  1. Kind of an odd decision to let Manoah start game 1 over Gausman. I would've preferred for the guy with experience to start game 1 so Alek could have had a chance to take in the atmosphere and experience the energy so he could better prepare for what it would be like. At the end of the day, this offense is just too 1 dimensional. No good lefties at all. That leaves a team very exposed against high-end starters like Castillo. But I like the next 2 matchups a lot better. Maybe we can win the next 2.
  2. Seems like the moment MLB jumped the shark. It's ridiculous that the defense is forbidden from positioning effectively. And what's the deal with the micromanaging of the pitcher? Just seems like desperate flailing from Manfred to be honest. The game's great as it is. These idiots need to stop messing with it. Also funny that they don't implement the one no-brainer way to make the game better (robo umps)
  3. If they ban the shift I wonder if anyone would take a flyer on Chris Davis. The guy's career would be resurrected and he'd only be 37 next year.
  4. Hot damn! I didn't see that coming!
  5. thank f***? If a team knows that a hitter is 1 dimensional and does nothing but pull the ball, why can't they position in response? I don't get it.
  6. Exactly. It's just moving the game backwards. I like in late close game situations, managers would bring in an infielder from the outfield. It's a strategy as old as time. Baseball's a game based on tradition, and it's a detriment to the integrity of the game when the commissioner starts flailing around with these gimmicky cheap fixes. I love the analytical aspect that shifting brings to the game. I don't get why'd cater to the hitters like this. Very very lame.
  7. I'm a big KBO fan and they hardly shift because these guys are all great contact hitters and can easily beat it. In my opinion, if a batter can't adapt, it's on him. The league shouldn't be catering to these 1 dimensional hitters. But then again I'm not a fan of a lot of the changes that Manfred's made and they seem to be popular so what do I know lol
  8. Damn, that sucks. I'm all for the robo umps, but banning the shift just seems to be moving the game backwards.
  9. Man, it's just a streaky team. They could go on and put an impressive whooping for the next 4 games and all will be forgotten and rinse and repeat.
  10. Has that been announced? I'm against them doing this. A defense shouldn't be hamstrung from positioning effectively just because Manfred wants more scoring. Plus, they're always complaining about the length of games, I don't see how doing this is going to make it any better.
  11. Exactly. How quickly we forget hey?
  12. It's funny you say that, my buddy was going off about this last week. It's as though the pitcher/catcher are disconnected from the positions of the fielders. Very odd.
  13. As hard as this team is to watch, I still don't see the Twinkies or O's catching us. That extra wildcard spot is going to be a Godsend for the Jays. Kinda cheapens the playoff race to be honest with all these extra playoff spots. There's really not going to be much drama going down the line... Now imagine if Rays, Jays and M's were all gunning for one or 2 spots. That would be can't miss baseball.
  14. No kidding, totally flips the perception of his line.
  15. @Lethebalfly Well hitters beating the shift still needs to be blamed on the pitcher, that's just good hitting.
  16. Damn, just tuned in late. 10 hits given up through 5 2/3. That's ugly. Berios needs to be better.
  17. I'll be very shocked if we don't snag the last playoff spot, but that was more than a given at the beginning of the season. I hope there will be some shakeups if they get trounced in the wildcard games.
  18. Man, we got lucky there. Great throw from Vladdy to pick up his guys.
  19. Lmao in what world is THAT a hit? I know that home teams are easy on their own guys, but that kind of scoring is a disgrace to the integrity of the game.
  20. Well, can't complain about 3 out of 4 against the Yankees
  21. Helluva eye from JBJ there. Very hard pitch to lay off. f*** boys, how nice would a sweep be?! How quickly things change!
  22. Would be nice if these guys could at least make it interesting here and go down with a fight.
  23. Of course they did. Look at their stats specifically in the minor league parks and you'll understand why.
  24. What's crazy is that these guys exuded energy on the field last year and that was with playing all the home games on the road. The vibe from last year is all but gone. I'd wager that there's a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes that the media hasn't covered. The chemistry is definitely off.
