  1. Vlad is a very 'awkward looking' in his running, but he does always seem to be hustling, so I appreciate watching him run the bases.
  2. In case people haven't noticed: Font now has opened 4 games with 8 1/3 ip and zero runs allowed over those appearances. That's a nice little run, but the guy was not very good in 29 prior appearances this season (5.09 ERA).
  3. Yeah that's obviously going to be a stretch. BUT, the Jays are 21W and 20L since the mid-way point (at which they were 29W - 52L). If they go .500 for the remaining 40 games, that would be 41W - 40L for the 2nd half, which is pretty good, considering they gutted the pitching staff at the trade deadline. And people, save the 'Sanchez was no good anyway' responses.
  4. I vote for s***-can Pete and replace with Pedro Martinez. I always like his commentary on TV, so seems like he has excellent insights.
  5. Could probably add Curt Shilling to that list
  6. yeah it is ironic that a year ago everyone had their pitchforks directed at Brook Jacoby, but now the one key survivor of the previous coaching regime is on the hot seat
  7. yeah no doubt mistakes like this happen and I think he is a little amped up right now with the trade and wanting to prove himself. It is kind of heartbreaking the more one thinks about it (luckily it seems a minor incident and he will get back on the horse soon). As I posted earlier I hope he can shake this setback off and prove Ross right on this one. Count me on TEAM FISHER!
  8. it was in the bottom of the 1st (about 7:30 PM) so it was still pretty much still full daylight and the lights should not have been an issue (as far as I know) - just a mistake. You can see him closing his glove a split second too early and simply missing the ball in the process. It reminds me of the old rule they always taught the kids to use 2 hands to catch the ball. Had Fisher done that , the ball would have hit his throwing hand instead of his face.
  9. I just hope we are not seeing the beginnings of the 'Curse of the Sanchizo' Is it likely? (NO). Is Boras a f***ing bastard? YES. Are the Jays better off without Sanchez (let's see what Fisher does besides making a f***ing joke of himself on a routine fly ball).
  10. I think Buck and Pat (aka dumb and dumbest) mentioned that Grichick did make a visit to a dental expert after that incident. May have just had some teeth that got loosened by the impact and they made sure that everything was in place to heal up.
  11. I saw it when my son was playing in 12U Little League. A player on the opposing team fouled the ball into his face and resulting in a nasty gash (as I recall just around the eyebrow)with a lot of bleeding. Well it was troubling at the time but 3-4 stitches and a week or two later the young lad was back at it:cool:
  12. no doubt - the Jays are clearly throwing it all away - ETA: if we just kept Tulo. Martin and AA, just imagine where we would be now (you can sure bet they would be fighting for a postseason berth) !!!
  13. this is correct.... BUT if Sanchez flourishes with the Astros the remainder if this season and into next year (and maybe beyond) and at the same time Derek Fisher continues to prove to be the AAAA player he is currently profiling as - THEN WHAT ! Bottom line right now (from not just this trade but the overall body of work since early 2016) is it is hard to credibly defend Atkins as being anything more than a generic corporate stooge with no real abilities.
  14. "In his previous 2 starts with the jays he went 10.2 innings with 16Ks 0 walks and no homers given up. -saskjayfan"
  15. Thanks for the update. As I already posted, I strongly suggest the administrators think real hard about this because there are 'jokes' that simply cross the line. If he must he can always come back under a new username. I can't believe [people were actually seriously talking about that clown being made a moderator on here !
  16. Yeah, if he flourishes with the Astros and Fisher continues to.......(well let's say not flourish); this should be the end of Atkins in TO. I will always like Sanchez (born on July 1st for f***s sake!!). I can just see him coming in and pitching a no-hitter against the Jays on Canada Day - if so this will be the omen that signals the beginning of the Curse of the Sanchizo: heralding 86 years of purgatory and the Jays can not win the championship again until 2079.
  17. Maybe but he apparently tried to make a sick f***ing twisted joke of it that not all of us were in on - so f*** HIM
  18. Yeah and as I posted in another thread : "I realized there was a thread earlier today mentioning another regular poster had died. The thread appears to have been removed. If that was bogus, then the person who started the thread needs to be gone permanently.... " If not: then the administrator(s) of this message board are not to be taken seriously. For all I know, they will ban me for calling them out (standards of behavior on this forum are too tied to seniority).
  19. 5 day ban for what !?
  20. Yes let's see Jr. become the youngest full time DH in league history at 20. ETA - yes I am serious!
  21. Well there is always the ultimate solution.....
  22. So that means Jr. to 1st base and Tellez is out . Seems like the sooner the better.
  23. yeah he is having a career year and sadly is only a 'placeholder' already being pushed by Bichette
  24. NOT a chance - he has 19 and with 50 games to go including tonight. Maybe 25-26
  25. good thing you are the moderator and not me; you Godless heathen
