  1. Wholeheartedly agree, but letting both JB and EE walk would be a mistake. JB finished strong. He will bounce back huge. The problem with everyone's contract calculations is that there is no variable for a team so close to winning it all. What is the cost for letting each piece of the puzzle go?
  2. 31 HR, 119 RBI...they would have gone further with him.
  3. How the f*** do you know that??? And I never said "give him what he wants". He is worth 4/90 and I never indicated to pay him more.
  4. lol fair enough, but the number still stands
  5. He deserves 4/90 and they could afford more. Yes it is a business, and when you have a good thing going, you keep it. Team didn't need an overhaul, it needed weak links to be addressed. JB and EE were not weak links. Sign both back, put EE at first, KM at DH and JB in right. Trade Upton and Smoak for a full time LH LF.
  6. I don't know, looks like Bautista Lite. I don't like all this talk of cost-effectiveness. I don't give a s*** about how much Rogers saves-that savings will never be passed on to the fan/consumer. This FO acts like they are Kansas City. The Jays have never made so much money and that increase in revenue has been thanks in no small part to EE and JB. The Jays should start spending some of it.
  7. So, why aren't the Jays making any effort to keep Benoit? has his injury scared them off?
  8. Sorry quoted wrong post previously. Love the sentiment of this one, even though it's debatable who the greatest hitter is. Love JB!
  9. He's worth 3 for 50m. He had an off year due to injuries. He'll bounce back in a big way.
  10. Stop being a front-office apologist. Why do you think the funds aren't there? The Jays are a unique team in that their market is a country and they are owned by the company that exclusively broadcasts the games. Also think about the money they are saving on the starting rotation? They got the league-leading ERA dirt cheap. Apply that savings to snagging a marquee FA.
  11. To be honest I'd be happier if they retain Bautista and sign Morales than sign Encarnacion alone.
  12. Doesn't matter. Winning costs money and they're not going to win the division let alone the WS without spending.
  13. I find the talk of saving money laughable. Who cares how much people cost? Rogers can afford to field the best team possible. Let's go after top tier free agents, just like back in the day with the Winfield, Morris and Stewart signings.
  14. Don't look now but Shatkins is trying to recreate the '85 Jays! lol Just need the reincarnation of Moseby, Upshaw, Acker and Lamp!
  15. I'd agree with Fowler, then add Inciarte
  16. So you're telling me there is a chance? Woohoo
  17. New to this board and excited by these rumours. If anyone who is smarter than me can chime in with their two cents it would be appreciated. If Shapiro and Atkins can make this happen, I'll be super happy.
  18. I like his defence, his power from the left side, his professionalism, and I recall a few big hits he has had. It's gotta be tough virtually playing from the bench day in day out
  19. I like Justin a lot. Does he just need to play every day to put up some big numbers?
  20. I got the Made for October gray t-shirt and the Came to Reign hoodie. Happy with both
  21. Are you insane? Martin s*** the bed once again, not too mention most of the season. I'll take Bautista back in a heartbeat.
  22. Donaldson Dash, Tulo Grand-Slam, Seattle series
  23. Love Bautista. One of the all time greats. Definite level of excellence. Love his big personality too. Game needs more stars with flair like him. Too many boring pc players these days.
  24. Been a fan since '85 and I'm reminded of '89. The kind of last hoorah of the '80s Jays. That year also felt lucky to make the post season, outmatched by Oakland, winning only one game in the ALCS. But where that season felt like a success, this one feels like a failure. Just in the way they went out. An extremely joyless series. Didn't feel like the same team.
