I'll trust whatever the front office chooses to do. I 100% believe EE when he says he wants to stay a Blue Jay and his bat still makes a ton of sense for us. If they don't think he's worth it then by all means let him walk.
It's really interesting to see how Shipiro handles this because for the first time he doesn't have a bottom 10 payroll.
- Sign Reddick
- Resign Brett Cecil
- Make a run at Chapman
- Sign Brad Ziegler
- Trade a starter for good 1B/LF
- Lock Josh Donaldson up
Just give me hard throwers or funky side winders in the bullpen.
They could fire Gibbons if they want and not take any hit, the casual fans don't like the way Gibby carries himself and Shipiro always has the "he's not my guy" card to play. It certainly wouldn't be an issue to anyone. Is it deserved though?
Before these past two seasons we were no where close to these numbers. For the first time since Rogers took over they are seeing the results of winning baseball, can't really argue with how they've handled payroll since it has steadily climbed over the years.
As expected, Gibby's quote:
"I've seen Marcus rise to the occasion many, many times. He's the perfect guy for it."
Only way Gibby saves his job is if we go all the way?
I'm all for Liriano with Stroman piggybacking if necessary. Need to take the sting out of the lefty Bats.
I feel like Gibbons is going to want to give it to Stroman.
Honestly I'm expecting Bautista back, he's been clear he wants to stay here. He's trying pretty hard to integrate himself in the city for his future, he won't have that rapport anywhere else.
