  1. If the Blue Jays take 2 of 3 from the Yankees and sweep the O’s, the Yankees take 2 of 3 from the Rays, and the Red Sox win 4 of 6 against Baltimore and Washington, there will be a three-way tie for two AL wild card spots.
  2. It seems of the 6 home games with the expanded capacity, the biggest run on tickets came for Thursday night with Ray on the mound. They have gradually been opening up rows and sections in the 500 level for the Yankees series. Looking forward to some good crowds down at the dome. Heading to at least three games at this point.
  3. Jays just have to take care of business,
  4. Hey, does anyone have the presale code for today? Looking to pick up some tickets for September, my dad and I want to go to the afternoon game vs. Tampa. Thanks in advance.
  5. Nick Gonzales: 4 things to know about the New Mexico State baseball infielder https://www.lcsun-news.com/story/sports/college/nmsu/2020/05/20/nick-gonzales-facts-nmsu-aggies-baseball-new-mexico-state-mlb/5216799002/
  6. The reduction in the number of rounds in the draft coupled with the proposal to eliminate two levels of the minor leagues some players are really going to slip through the cracks. The jump from complex rookie ball to single A is going to be a big one for some. I know the commish seems hell bent on saving cash, but really how much are you really by eliminating two short season rosters for each team? Plus some 6th rounders or even further back have got signing bonus way over $20K Could we see say one eight team co-op league to fill the gap?
  7. One of the college summer wood bat leagues, the Coast Plain League has announced their plans to begin their season in late June. Interesting to see they will be playing at 50% capacity and their approach to spacing people. Not sure how applicable something like this would be in MLB but interesting none the less. https://stadiumjourney.com/news/bananas-will-play-with-limited-capacity?fbclid=IwAR35N1evlJujqrPQ-MUQ3A0B18Ol3v0nz3lEvjzQqg3btfAC4GweXs7vWeA
  8. But if things are not up and running where are you going to send anyone? Wonder if we may see some more fall ball in addition to the AFL to get guys more games if there is not an milb season?
  9. Is Detmers a stretch at 5, like the notion of a polished lefty who will progress through the system quickly. High school kids are always the high reward, big risk types.
  10. RIP Damaso, the second member of the '85 Jays we have lost in recent months after Tony. I know Damaso has has not been in the greatest of health for year. I hope he has found peace. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29038959/former-blue-jays-2b-damaso-garcia-dies-63
  11. When people are worried about their health, if they will be able to make their rent this month or where there next meal will come from baseball to tell you the truth does not mean a f***en thing.
  12. The CDC made the recommendation this evening of no gatherings of more than 50 people for at least the next eight weeks. Pretty sure we will not see baseball or sports for that matter for a while.
  13. With the short season A and advanced rookie levels being eliminated I would assume most drafted players would start their careers in a rookie complex league which would begin after the draft?
  14. This article gives a pretty in-depth break down on what’s being discussed/proposed. We should see the number of affiliated teams reduced from 160 to 120 not including the two complex rookie teams. The 4 short season A and advanced rookie league would be eliminated and the 40 teams left without a PDC would be moved into these supposed MLB/MILB dreamer leagues. I would think the 40 teams right off the bat would include most of the teams in the Pioneer and Appalachian Leagues. It is also being suggested that the we could see the affiliated leagues being re-shuffled into smaller geographic foot prints etc. It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/mlb-floats-proposal-that-would-eliminate-42-minor-league-teams/
  15. It's the 355ml cans of Bud and Bud Light for $5 at the three Dugout Deals kiosks, one per level.
  16. When you are a Sportsnet type you are connected , to pardon the pun, things are being fed to you, the message is getting spun. I fully expect this week to be the week. It will get the tickets selling like hot cakes.
  17. Anyone looking for a great deal on Blue Jays 2015-16 playoff t-shirts Sport Chek has various different ones for $4.88. I picked up a playoff hoodie for $9.99 down from $99.99. Also picked up a Joey Bats jersey for $19.99 down from $159.99 after picking up a Donaldson jersey for $39.99 at National Sports. Figured it was a too good a deal to pass up. That was a fun two year ride for sure.
  18. Spend a week watching the low minor league's , say A ball or something and you would get an idea of the drop we would see. Pitching by far would see the biggest drop off by far. The argument that always leaves me shaking my head is when comparing players of different eras. How does anyone has any idea how Babe Ruth, Willie Mays , Reggie Jackson, etc, you can go on and on. I suspect comparing pitchers would be easier but who knows. I guess the real question are you dropping them in with their era in mind or in the context of today?
  19. I wholeheartedly enjoyed this afternoon very much. For a game that meant nothing in the standing for the Jays being over 30 games out of first it was a special one. Having watched the press conference prior to heading down to the park, it was very cool once I got there from the standing ovation during the exchange of the lineup cards to one during each mound visit and finally a Gatorade shower during his post game interview on on the field. Today was the perfect example of how a ball club can handle these situations with class and dignity. I can totally see Gibby with a smile on his face enjoying a cold one or two on the flight down to Tampa. Cheers to him.
  20. No doubt a September callup is in the cards, no way the Jays can not do it, creating some buzz for some otherwise meaningless games to close out the season. It will sell tickets big time, sure the Rogers board will love it.
  21. I just love hitting up minor league ballparks in general and figured with the added bonus of Vladi and company, why not.
  22. Anyone have any plans to head down to see Vladi in action, heading down to Binghamton for the game against New Hampshire this Saturday, can’t wait !!! Hitting up the Bisons game on the way home Sunday.
  23. Would Vladi bashing the ball around at the dome not the crowds out?
  24. Is Rogers really going to care about service time with the dwindling crowds, especially as the Jays fall further back? They need the excitement Vladi would bring.
  25. I just believe that it is subjective as there is not one clear cut version of it. There is no clearly established formula exists for it. Hey sabremetrics vs old school make for great conversation/debate as there are merits to both.
