    I've been saying to give Espy a shot, but for his glove. I'm not convinced that 2021 Espinal isn't a mirage at the plate. A guy like him, a punch and judy hitter, could hit .195 next year. High risk, moderate reward, #9 hitter.

    Weekday game at 2pm maximizes viewership? What are you thinking? Why can't chisox/astros game 2 be on Saturday at 2pm? Or do people not work in your world? What about Astros/chisox fans in school? Does mlb want to grow the game with younger viewers? The only people watching tv at 2pm eastern on a weekday are lonely housewives watching soap operas.

    The remember when Montoyo thread can go on for a while. Remember when Montoyo brought in Richards in a game where we were leading 8 to 0? Then the next day brought in Soria in a two run game.

    5/110m Maybe he is a dh in year 4/5. Maybe trade material down the road. The guy takes care of himself, is a physical specimen. Get it done Atkins!

    Coming back to this thread to reinforce my original view that Semien will be a more impactful signing. Semien's influence on Bo just one more reason.

    Cut Ray loose and offer Semien an extra year at market value. I have a feeling we may be able to sign him.

    He was awful as long as I can remember. Terrible at his job, even by mlb umpiring standards.

    I think the front office wanted to put a contending team on the field in 2021 but didn't anticipate how good certain players would be: Expected Vladdy to be good not necessarily great this fast. Expected Semien to be somewhere between his 2019 and 2020 performances. He was other worldly. Expected Bo to continue to develop but not necessarily all star caliber in 2021. Expected Ray to be Ray not Cy Young. They were hopeful Teo could turn into what he is but over a full season who knows? They expected Springer to play a lot more games than he did. Covid f***ed up our schedule, 3 different home fields. I think we give Shatkins a pass on all that. Montoyo I don't give them a pass on.
