    Look, I think the nail in the coffin was the return from the road trip out west where he said he thought they played well. Shapiro saw that and lost his mind I bet. If you can’t recognize as a manager that there is a problem you are beyond hope. Shapiro probably went to Atkins and prompted the firing. “Our results are not commensurate with our investment” would have been uttered at some point. Charlie seems like a decent human being and I wish him well but as someone once said, “this isn’t the try hard league, this is the get it done league”.

    But last night he was pitching off the third base side of the rubber not the middle. When the season started he was on the first base side. He career norm was to be on the third base side like last night. Don’t know if this has a tangible effect but he seems to think so. If we get more of what we saw last night go for it I say.
