  1. I don't get why some are so enamored with Scherzer to the extent that they want him back in any capacity. Is it the resume? The high strung attitude? The vetrin presents? Sure he had some value in the playoffs and is an easy guy to cheer for but why take a chance with a guy north of 40? He is an injury waiting to happen. Too much volatility for me. Thanks for your efforts Max. Wish you well wherever you end up but your time in Toronto has come to an end.
  2. Actually if you go onto the Orioles Hangout they have a thread on the Cease signing and there are posters on there trying to convince others that Kremer is the equivalent of Cease.
  3. No I don't think you can do FIP by inning (open to correction). It is a measure of the season as a whole. But why would you need to because it encapsulates hr's, walks, strikeouts, innings pitched, and hit by pitch. The number is sound because it uses a fip constant to make it scale like era. Generally because his FIP is lower than his era it means his underlying performance is better than what his era shows. ie. maybe bad luck or bad defense, etc.
  4. Yeah, agreed. I see people saying he is up and down but if you look at his FIP by year it is remarkably consistent: 2021.....3.46 2022.....3.15 2023......3.62 2024.......3.25 2025......3.52 The guy is money.
  5. Was 2022 an anomaly for Cease?
  6. Did the Jays just inflate salaries for the rest of the starters on the market? You bet. Wonder if this will cause a mad rush to scoop up the other starters. Hopefully he doesn't give up a bunch of hr's at the Rogers Centre, (a possibility, he gave up career high 21 last season...gulp). Pete Walker has some work to do.
  7. So the Jays got a Boras client. Money talks.
  8. Guys, don't look at the term or dollars. This guy is durable and the Jays just sent notice league wide that they are not effing around. That's a top of the rotation starter that a rival team can not now get. Windows to win championships close extremely fast and this management group knows it. Ed Rogers got a taste holding that ALCS trophy and his ego wants more, which is fine by me. Flags fly forever. Can't wait for spring.
  9. Come on, it's the offseason. Some leeway is in order, right?
  10. Bieber off of tj...TBD Yesavage....great so far but sss Berrios....don't need to say anything Lauer....ok, maybe
  11. Gray had a no trade clause so the Cards are lucky to move him. He signed a three year 75M contract heavy on the back end with the Cards. Gray is a true mercenary, doesn't stay anywhere longer than three years. Business.
  12. The only sure thing in the Jays starting rotation as it stands today is Gausman. That's it. Get to work Ross.
  13. You know we laugh but his story has tragic arc. First round pick, to rookie sensation, all-star game selection and then opening day starter. All that and then a steep decline that no one saw coming. I hope he manages to find a roster spot with somebody but it doesn't look good. Sad.
  14. Why are we reopening old wounds? No more WS talk please. Let it go. Time to move on. Shove off. Zip it. Don't dredge up the past. Turn the page. Look forward.
  15. Bichette and Story on the Bosox infield...yikes! What are they thinking?
  16. Their skipper/ GM relationship sounds like it's on the rocks. Can't believe he spoke so openly like that.
  17. I think this is true, but in theory only. We all have to admit that part of the Jays success in 2025 was the team make up or chemistry. Hard to precisely quantify intangibles but there was something there and from all reports Clement was smack dab right in the middle of it. Clement's value to the team versus his salary is remarkabley high so you wouldn't gain much by trading him but you may lose an awful lot. You can't break up the band yet Jim. The Jays have to run it back. If the next iteration of the team fails, well as you said, no untouchables. It's just business after all.
  18. I believe Atkins plan A is to sign Bo, Bregman, Imai and also beef up the pen (but that can take place many ways). This is what the Jays need at a minimum to compete for another AL Championship. Yankees/ Bosox will be better. Resigning Bo won't be enough and Atkins knows it. Get ready for some big moves because Rogers will be stroking checks and raising your cable rates at the same time.
  19. Take all these Jays rumors with a grain of salt. They will likely be talking to everyone. That said, go big or go home with the relief core. Spending big dollars on the bullpen is dumn.
  20. There is a procedure in theory whereby the bones of the leg are severed with a saw and the resulting healing adds about a millemeter to ones height each time. There is hope for ole pigeon toes with enough successful operations.
  21. So Cease will be 30 years old next season. At 30M per annum he is going to be offered at least five years. If the Jays offer him seven years it is worth the risk. Sure seven years is a long time for any arm to implode but with Gausman on the way out we need a top of the rotation anchor. Will Atkins be risk averse or go for it? I think he is riding a wave right now so make the offer Ross!
