    I would believe it would be better if you're already considering firing the manager, to do it before spring training, so the new manager and his staff has time to get affiliated with the players.

    That's actually the best news of the night regarding our "buddies" the Texas Rangers. If Boston technically has nothing to play for the next 2 games, maybe they'll play some of their bench and not have their starters pitch too long into the games.

    Mencherson!!! I actually have a Billy Koch jersey because I'm one of those people who doesn't like wearing the same player that everyone else has. I also have a Garry Valk sweater (jersey).

    Holliday hit his 20th home run in another injury plagued season. Cardinals won't pick up his option at the end of this season. Could be a possible DH signing who can also occasionally fill in at 1st base and left field like he has with St Louis. I'd take him over Moss who's very streaky and strikes out alot like Saunders.

    Boston can't complain about the strike zone. Hanley Ramirez struck out on a pitch on the inside corner and was given first base!!

    Has Ortiz been tested this year? The league probably told him before the season that they'll look the other way since it's his last year and it would look bad on baseball if it comes out that the guy who's making a big egotistical retirement spectacle is on steroids. If Jose Canseco announced he was going to retire at the end of the year, he would have been tested 10 times during his final year just because he's "unlikable".

    Ortiz shouldn't be put on a pedestal and given a free pass just because he's a big, happy go lucky guy. Eye test doesn't lie. He was basically done a few years ago, and now he's having an mvp season the year he's going to retire. He probably doesn't care about getting tested and failing since he's going to be out of baseball soon anyway, he has nothing to lose.

    Ortiz "magically" having one of his best seasons of his career the year he's going to retire, but won't get tested because he plays for Boston and it would be an embarrassment to mlb for teams giving him going away presents when he's on steroids! He's already been caught before and didn't even show any remorse. But he'll get voted into the Hall of Fame because he plays for Boston and he's "likeable". Barry Bonds and his 73 home runs late in his career should be in the Hall of fame as well then!

    At the very worst, they'll still be in the 2nd wildcard spot after tonight. Scoring 3 runs at Fenway is tough to win. Another loss for Cecil?

    Managers should be allowed to use one of their challenges to test a player for performance enhancing drugs during the game!!! Then the umpire can throw Ortiz out in the middle of his at-bat!!
