  1. I know the difference between Perez and Archer.. I mentioned him because that was the only game this season where we actually didn't strikeout a lot.
  2. This could be a long night..
  3. Yep, we limited Archer to only 4 k's through 6 2/3 in his last start.
  4. Marco does not look sharp tonight.
  5. I liked their approach vs Archer, so I hope this continues next inning.
  6. This. There were positives in that at-bat; the strongest being no whiffs.
  7. That's fine. Great contact there Tulo. Flying out deep to centre is a good sign.
  8. Good to see, he needs to try something different.
  9. Wow Tulo actually made contact with that high 4SM!
  10. Now what Tulo will we get today. Let's see if he still watches meatballs tonight.
  11. Hero swings or walks, same with Edwin.
  12. Come on guys, get that run back!
  13. Thank God.
  14. I don't see what's unreasonable about my post. It's completely sensible and can the stats back it. High opposing pitcher pitch counts and high strikeout rates tell the narrative that it's the same approach as last season but every bat other than the big 3 has regressed to the point of not being able to do it.
  15. More important than you
  16. The fact that I'm even uncertain about this speaks volumes about Gibbons.
  17. I think he was quoted saying he has a "hands off" approach some time last season.
  18. For guys like JD, Bautista, and usually Edwin, this approach is fine because they generally have great eyes and batspeed. The problem is guys while regressing batspeed or little talent are applying this approach and they can't sauce it.
  19. I really hope you're right man.
  20. It's not that simple, but what do you think hitting coaches are for? If the players all coached themselves there would be no need for a hitting coach. Their approach is obviously, "make the pitchers work and throw as many pitches as they can". Maybe it should be, "look for a good fastball and shoot the other way". JD, Bautista and Edwin can be exempt, but everyone else shouldn't be using this current approach because their pitch recognition is just not as good as those guys. If people like Tulo, Martin and Goins start stringing together solid contact, whether balls find holes or not, maybe their confidence improves and they get going a bit, who knows, but the current, all encompassing, approach needs an adjustment.
  21. Would be excellent but instead it will be Travis who's demoted to AAA until he "earns" his way back. It's completely moronic but I expect Gibbons to fight for Goins and do just that. If Travis does come right to the Majors after his extended spring stint, then Barney will be sent down, for the same reasons as above. Gibby has a love affair with Goins.
  22. Don't fire him, but there should be some kind of group meeting to change the overall approach. When everyone is watching 2-strike fastballs straight down the middle and we're making 6 K/9 scrubs look like Clayton Kershaw, a change in philosophy is needed.
  23. Shapiro/Atkins better be on the phone with Jacoby after this game. This is just ridiculous.
