Tavares isn't going anywhere. Tough to find someone that can take on $11M. He's still solid, but is clearly on the decline. Plus I don't see him waiving his NMC. Matthews is going nowhere. Marner is probably not going anywhere. Again, almost $11M...hard to find a taker without taking on comparable money. Tremendous talent...is great with Matthews...and do you see any deal where the Leafs come out better after moving him? Nylander is the obvious guy. 30+ goal scorer. 80 point guy. $7M ticket...very team friendly. Personally, I don't think I'd move him, BUT, I would float his name out there and see if there are any GM's that have a big hardon for him...maybe someone is willing to pay a hefty price that makes sense for the Leafs. I'd rather look at doing something with Kerfoot/Muzzin/Holl. I like the core...it's that second tier of supporting characters that needs work. All that said, need a goalie that is a legit game changer. They don't grow on trees, but they have to find one...somewhere, somehow.

I wouldn't say never will. Might be a completely different core... Might be in another 300 years, but never isn't an accurate take I don't think.

To be fair, the way they called penalties was very much different this year...at the very least for the first couple of series. s*** was getting called that would NEVER have been called in the past. Montreal would never have gotten away with what they did last year, in this years playoffs. Those that adapted to the "new" style of officiating seemed to do better.

Of the hockey fans here, I'd say probably half of them are Leafs fans...the remainder are a mishmash of other allegiances. Not as much of a Toronto centric hockey base I don't think. I could be wrong though.

Why is the discussion about the Leafs? Shouldn't the conversation be about Colorado and praising them on a great playoff run? Seems like it's always the non Leafs fans that want to talk about the Leafs...then complain that the discussion is always about the Leafs.

Didn't some of us say at the beginning of the season that this pen wasn't good enough? It cost us a playoff berth last season. Hope it doesn't cost us something again this year.
