He was talking about AA's entire tenure as the Jays GM. Borderline .500 team. You're overanalyzing this. The team had at best a .500 record with him at GM...and then they caught lightning in a bottle for that last two months of the season...that brings us to today. That's pretty much it.

Hilarious. #1 - It's McCown. #2 - He's always bashing the puckheads constantly talking about hockey. #3 - Baseball is his passion #4 - He's an old schooler that isn't into analytics of any kind (for any sport)...and that's not why anyone listens to him. The business of sports is his thing and he's very knowledgeable. The banter with the other guests/co-hosts is always good for a chuckle. He's a pretty intelligent guy. If you're looking for fancy stats and analytics you shouldn't be listening to Bob McCown. Maybe Dustin McGowan.

I get it. Actual record vs. theoretical record. They were underperforming...badly. But they've had good pythag records in the past that led to 3rd place finishes. They only allow teams in the playoffs that actually win. So ya, your record is what it is.
