The Owe's are about to lose Davis, Weiters, Chen, and O'Day. But your woried about who the jays might lose to free agency? And we will have the money to be in on one of the big FA pitchers. Who do you expect to replace all the players your going to lose with your cheap ownership? By the way even after all our trades we still have a stronger farm system than the Owe's. Stay salty.

I hope not. I would rather it not be a hard rule and I hope exceptions can be made in very rare circumstances but for the most part I think its a good rule. Most long term contracts don't end too well. Bad contracts over 5 years seem to vastly outnumber the good ones.

He will get it going eventually. He has much too long of a track record of sucess at the plate not to. All hitters go through cold streaks at some point we just have to patient and wait it out. -

Cyris - 91 Mostly because of beating up on a weak al east. the Yankees and Rays are going to be bad and I'm not sold on the Red Sox at all. Baltimore will fight for the division with us most of the season but won't be as good last year.

If a starter goes down or faulters one of them can always be sent down and stretched out just like last season with Stroman.

I'm sure it was a joke. It if we are hoping for a veteran pitcher who is currently out of the picture (lol) to make a huge career turn around and make an impact. I think Santana would be a much more likely candidate.

Many people saw the bottom of the lineup as a negitive and really there is lots of potential there but lots of question marks too.

Very small sample but Smoak might be finding his swing. The team really needs his D at first with the arms of Donaldson and Reyes plus possibly the rookie Travis as the rest of the infeild. But no matter how much i value his D he has to produce to justify being the starting firstbaseman.

9th best war in all of baseball for a shortstop at 3.3 wins above replacement. And it still doesn't explain why you said he provides barely average offense when in reality he provides top end offense from his position. Why cant you either provide something to back up that statement or admit you were wrong?

4th best offensive rating for a shortstop in baseball last season per fangraphs is barely average? He is overpaid and his D is definitely declining but try to be objective. You can dislike the guy and make a case for the team trying to move him but you don't have to skew the facts to do it.

Loving Smoak's D at first. GG quality. Hopefully he can hit enough to make the club.

Not nearly as good as Martin. Martin has 4 individual seasons with where he was worth a full win more than Cervelli has earned in his entire career. And that doesnt factor in Martins superior pitch framing or impact on the young pitchers.

Well kind of hard for any of us to really say. Even if they were to be equal with the bat, Martin's D, game calling and pitch framing will be much better. Martin is a top 5 catcher in the game but much of that value is based on things that wont show up on a standard score sheet. Hopefully that is something the casual fans will understand and see why he got such a big contract.
