  1. It's true...lol you could throw Beuhrle in there too.
  2. Yeah I was looking at mean value regarding Morrow. I changed the calc to include Lind looking even worse. Saying we will bring in pieces is the equivalent of saying we saved money. It means nothing until money is spent. Quite a few good players got signed to reasonable contracts here, so AA's inaction to me means there are salary constraints again.
  3. No I would say I made 5 bux. I wouldn't act as if I made $10 cuz the $5 was all in quarters and was just lying around anyways. Also, if you see my other post about potential, we were given a $10 bill for a $11 bill.
  4. In: Donaldson, Martin, Saunders, Travis, Smoak, Estrada Out: Lawrie, Graveman, Nolin, Baretto, Gose, Happ, Rasmus, Melky, Morrow, Janssen, Navarro (likely), Lind. Not so amazing. Esp when you look at guys like Rasmus, Lawrie, Melky, and Morrow as guys with potential to have performed a LOT better than they did during the 2014 season. From a potential stand point, taking the highest WAR the above players posted in 2013 and 2014 (and 2012 for injury riddled players) we get In: Donaldson, Martin, Saunders, Travis, Smoak, Estrada 8+5.5+2.4+(Replacement)+1.4+1.6= 18.9 Out: Lawrie, Gose, Happ, Rasmus, Melky, Morrow, Janssen, Navarro (likely), Lind. 4.5 (2012)+ (Replacement)+ 1.4 + 4.6 + 3.1 + 3.2 (2012) + 1.4 + 2.3 + 2.3= 22.8 Didn't count Pompey as I feel he is a prospect and doesn't count as an addition even though the departure of Rasmus opens up a spot for him. He could have been traded if we held onto Rasmus.
  5. Nice to come across someone with a similar opinion. When I said we were done making moves a few weeks back, everyone was saying I should calm down cuz it's a long off-season and there was no way AA was done. If just Stroman goes down or has a bad year, we are going to have a substantially worse year than 2014, 5 WAR players and all. We lost WAR too let's not forget that with all the departures. We made more problems for ourselves by not going the easy route and re-signing Melky, keeping Lind, and signing Martin. We HAD to go out and get Smoak, trade away Happ (could be a 3-4 starter) for Saunders, and are going to have to either trade Navarro for nothing or hold his salary and DH him. If we just kept our team from last season and signed Melky and a SP, we are a better team right now. If the off-season ended tomorrow, AA would get an F in my books for continuing to ignore the actual needs of the team. Potential wise, we are the same team from last season.
  6. On the bright side all we have to focus on now is pitching.
  7. So Maicer Izturis with a better glove? As long as we get rid of Izturis this move ain't so bad.
  8. Lol I know that's what I said. I just feel we aren't in a position to trade them, not that they don't have value. After trading Norris and Graveman, trading Osuna and Hoffman would kill our farm. If this really is the last yr or so of this window, we are going to need the farm more than ever. Dickey and Beuhrle will be gone soon regardless, prospects are going to have to step up. That's why imo we are not in a posn to trade. When we can sign players without giving up anything why aren't we doing it? No one wants to come to Canada and the AL East? Plz Just from recent activity, you think Melky didn't want to come back?
  9. For sure, better than relying on Izturis/Goins/Travis. Wish we could do better since we are cutting into that money we had saved up, but atleast we are doing something.
  10. How can you say that? I know our farm system better than most people that post on this board, maybe you included. Ofcourse we have several prospects we can trade, every team does. We don't have many that have value that we can afford to part with, infact I'd say none. Our #7-20 prospects are not going to bring us back big value unless a good portion of em are packaged together. Out of our top 7, Sanchez, Norris, Pompey, and Travis are needed on the team. Osuna, Castro, and Hoffman are next up for depth and can't really be traded. Atleast you agree that we are still not there, I guess that's something.
  11. Everyone gets more than they are worth during FA.
  12. Kinda. Major FA's are either gone or way out of our budget/ we have too much competition. We should be done for trades, all we have for prospects are scraps really, nothing we can really part with. Its not like we have a line-up of guys ready to step in from the minors, excluding Sanchez, Norris, and Pompey who are already needed on the team either this yr or next with Beurhle gone. No positional player depth...who do we trade???? Trading anyone for RP is a bad idea. The time to sign/ trade for SP has come and gone. Mcarthy is also gone. What do you think AA can have planned exactly? He's out of bullets. It doesn't matter how long there is left if there are no FA's worth signing, we don't have money, and we have no prospects to trade because they are already being rushed onto the team. And I don't need to cool down because Im not worked up, just disappointed cuz you could definitely see this coming.
  13. This move even though minor confirms what some of us had felt that the Blue Jays are done with their big moves after the Saunders trade. The money that did not go to Melky is not going to sign anyone. Expect to see a few cover-up Izturis type players signed. I am not sold on Travis either, not even close to Pompey's level and he is a big IF. We needed a 2B for how long now? Btw Izturis and this guy that's 7m that could have gone to Drew or Lowrie esp since it's evident we are not chasing any non-scrub level SP or RP.
  14. Hey if Dickey could do it...
  15. Well what more were they supposed to do? They had great SP and needed to improve their pen and went out and picked up two great RP's that didn't work out...so you are saying, based on this, teams should give up trying to acquire RP?
  16. Oh that's right. Plus our guy can pitch in relief too, we are looking good then!
  17. Minus Price, Scherzer, Verlander, A.Sanchez, and Porcello
  18. Not the act in itself, but if I remember correctly the Jays were playing like crap and looked like they checked out emotionally.
  19. Have you never got into fights? You pretty much draw on anything you can. Given the types of injuries he suffered and the irrelevance of the turf, it's even easier to conclude his comments were emotionally driven. Kid was as hardcore a BlueJay as you could be and did a lot of good things for Toronto (including the helmet toss-showed a lot of heart when everyone else had pretty much punched out).
  20. He did nothing to earn our ill wishes, sure he was sour that he got traded, but who wouldn't be? His comments were more of a stab at AA than at the players and fans.
  21. All them prospects Oakland is stockpiling, bound to find some treasure. Look for Oak to sign some FA's to flip next yr like Butler.
  22. Exactly, a lot of the posters are so optimistic that since we are so early in the offseason, moves will happen. Reality is we are likely DONE. Small tinkers ahead sure and something big could potentially happen, but it would be unexpected. The lot of you are acting as though moves are a direct consequence of time left in the offseason. Having this much time left in the off-season if anything is a BAD thing because it gives all the other teams with resources opportunity to get better. Just go for Scherzer? We probably don't even have the funds to go after him if we were re-signing him while he was a pending FA for the bluejays, nvm during FA. What I'm hoping for from this point forward is that all major FA's stay away from the AL East.
  23. RedSox signing SP is basically a lock. All my posts and oddsmakers have taken that into account surely. Redsox upgrading their rotation is somewhat inevitable while we are more or less stuck, giving up current prospects doesn't make sense and we don't have money to spend by the looks of it.
  24. Does everyone but me feel we are playoff bound with the moves this far? Seriously?
