  1. Hoping for guys we have zero chance of signing and therefore won't pick...brilliant.
  2. We wouldn't have had the money to draft him anyway....
  3. There was no reason to believe that we would save any money on Stroman who went later than he should have. It was a silly proposition.
  4. By the way, that MLB.com grade on Nikorak: Ranked #15 overall 65 grade FB 60 grade CB 55 grade CH 55 grade Control 55 grade Overall Guys with those supposed tools don't "fall" to #27 because they throw right handed. Turns out that MLB.com was hilariously wrong, which shouldn't be that surprising as guys like Callis in fact are not scouts LOL.
  5. He joins Jon Harris who Callis also revered as a giant "steal". Don't bend yourself too much out of shape. Mike Nikorak was another cold-weather HS pitcher with "everything" who I was praying we'd land. He's been utter trash as a Pro, and he was another "clear mid 1st round talent who only fell because he's a HS RHP". Given how many teams passed up Carlson, to take OTHER HS pitchers nonetheless, should tell you that the MLB.com profile is probably a little bullish.
  6. Landon Leach just went to Minny. Top Canadian HS kid.
  7. They pretty much got the two guys they were on the hardest. Pearson has been getting better and better as the season progressed. Obvious huge upside. I'm sure they are very pleased.
  8. You realize they do medical checks, right?
  9. Its Pearson you f***s. 6'6 240 throws high 90's. Get mad.
  10. Frankie Piliere‏ @FPiliereD1 21m21 minutes ago #BlueJays take Logan Warmoth. He's going to get to the bigs quickly, easy shortstop actions and big time bat speed. Really like this pick
  11. He's 5'8 150. How much power do you think he's going to develop? Are you happy if he turns into John McDonald? Warmoth is unanimously ranked higher by everyone, scouts, writers, teams, etc. There is a reason for this.
  12. Houck looked like a shell of his former self late this year. Terrible mechanics and stuff way down (90-93 vs high 90's a year or two ago). I guess you hope you can "fix him", but this reminds me of Jon Harris.
  13. Scouts love Warmoth yet people on here see a white college SS with "high floor" label and conclude he's some no-tool dirtbag type. "He's Russ Adams!" Warmoth can really hit. Above-average bat speed and he sprays a stupid amount of line drives (ie: Bichette).
  14. Toolsy college CF's with highly suspect contact ability. I was half joking, but the comparison does make sense. Kendall obviously has louder tools.
  15. If Warmoth was a HS kid you'd love him. Why Allen over Warmoth? Midget with who knows what type of offensive upside, and I actually like Allen. You're falling into the HS= Good, College = Bad trap.
  16. Yea, College kid who can't hit s***. Brilliant. Might be the next JB Woodman.
  17. I doubt it. Lots of talk coming from the front office about getting "the right kids", and kids who will mesh well with their "high performance" system.
  18. Most are held back as kids when its obvious they have a future in athletics.
  19. No, his stock is back up again as a possible under-slot option for teams picking as high as the A's at 6th overall. The last-minute consensus is that he's likely gone within the first 15 or so picks, and even if he falls past that there are several teams in front of us (Mets, Giants) who have been linked to college bats as well who would probably pop him.
  20. Sheets at 28 is dependent on them deciding to go under-slot at that pick, which obviously hasn't been determined. BA may be hearing us "linked" to Sheets a lot, but that doesn't mean that they won't go in an entirely different direction with that pick. As Piliere has noted, we are also heavily connected to HS kids with that pick, so you're looking at two polar opposites (money saving college player vs. HS player who may even be over slot).
