  1. He really looks like he's going to be an excellent core piece going into the future. That eye is going to keep him in the league for a while if he keeps his K% under 30. And we can keep him at 2B, where his defensive numbers have looked just fine. It's everywhere else he's looked worse.
  2. SWR aside I think most of those guys need to have another year of sustained performance at a higher level first before they're getting considered. I do think SWR should be on the list though. Even though it's only 28 innings, it's impressive as hell for an 18 year old in High A.
  3. Alvarez did control his walks better generally than Zeuch has. And those two years with the Marlins he was especially great at limiting walks.
  4. I'd be pleasantly and pretty damn surprised if Teo put together four straight average to above average seasons worth of value from CF with this team. That's the bar. By fWar Pillar put up 9 WAR in four years. And by bWar it was a much more impressive 13.9. Either way I can't see it being likely.
  5. I'm gonna just assume this is trolling cause it makes no sense otherwise.
  6. So when is the time when you can criticize a front office decision exactly? We will never have access to the same information as the front office. Given the information gap, does that mean there is literally never a time to make a credible argument against a front office decision? What's the bar here for making an argument? Just doesn't make sense to me. Especially weird since the entire function of a message board is to discuss moves made by a front office and to often argue about said moves.
  7. Urena is awful. But so is Brandon Drury.
  8. "A front office can never be criticized for their decisions because they are professionals. Just relax. " - Orioles fan as their team signs Chris Davis. Obviously Shatkins in making this move aren't doing anything in the ballpark of a Chris Davis signing. But the idea that we can't criticize front office decisions because we don't have the same information is completely inane. Front offices make bad decisions all the time. This one probably won't matter, but to me, it appears to be weak asset management.
  9. Galvis is cheap utility guy who has been a positive contributor for five years now. He's perfect for plugging into all the innings and at bats where there's an injury here or there in the infield. He would have wound up with a good number of AB's next year just in that role. Losing that positive value asset for those marginal innings your key guys aren't going to be playing, and instead having to look for a replacement to do the exact same thing seems like it doesn't make much sense? I don't get this.
  10. I agree with a lot of the above. The execution when it comes to turning assets into better value has not been good. We've waited too long to move some pieces and the moves we have made haven't panned out. Drury and Mckinney suck let's be honest. They were both older goes, and it looks bad on the FO's ability to evaluate talent that they didn't see these two as being useless. So at this point I'm not super hopeful on the Fisher or Kay pieces. SWR looks interesting at least.
  11. I can't take any quotes about guys we've just acquired or traded for seriously after being told by Atkins that Socrates Brito has incredible upside and potential. It's all meaningless blather.
  12. They were very solid but he was probably not going to maintain a HR/FB rate of 2.6% especially going into AAA with the home run surge there. So his 1.49 ERA was certainly outperforming his peripherals.
  13. It's happened to him for basically all 8 starts at AAA now so he's certainly got some things to figure out. His number's in AA were better than his peripherals, but even so that's a pretty brutal drop in performance.
  14. Why on earth was Atkins in such a rush to make that deal? He had time. Again with the Cal Stevenson toss in and with not getting back to the Twins we're getting signs that he's not a good negotiator and I would say seems to be to narrowly focused. He wants Fisher, so he tosses in a decent prospect when he didn't need to. He wants SWR so he doesn't even check back with the Twins once the Mets offer is on the table. That's not good.
  15. Like I don't understand the inclusion of Cal Stevenson in this deal? Why would we possibly need to toss him in to complete it? These are the types of little things in making trades that make me feel like Atkins is not very good at negotiating.
  16. I know everyone hates Sanchez, but Houston obviously thinks they can make something of him. I don't even really mind the return, it doesn't seem like he was ever going to turn it around here. Fisher may be decent. I'm just not sure why it seems we had to toss in a prospect as well?
  17. Uh so we're receiving another piece right? Cause Cal Stevenson has looked pretty solid at A+.
  18. Grienke?!? TO THE ASTROS?!?
  19. Stroman is under no obligation to pretend he's being offered an extension.
  20. Isn't that how we all graduated law school?
  21. 5 games. Still hasn't struck out. Honestly he must have some of the best bat control for a hitting prospect in a generation.
  22. Yeah I think I'm just gonna wait till Vladdy gets called up to watch this team.
  23. That's a stupid comparison. Maybe DSJ isn't going to work out for the Orioles, I'd say there's a decent chance, but he's not Goins. One of those two guys consistently hit decently in the minors and posted good walk rates. And over his last two seasons has continued to not strike out at a pretty good rate with his AB's in the majors.
  24. This team is gonna be lucky to draw 10,000 a game until Vladdy gets called up.
  25. What??? They have the fifth best record in the league. Lay down the crack pipe for a second. https://www.nhl.com/standings/2018/league
