    Don't you think the Mets would have offered the same deal in the offseason considering they are looking at next year at this point? Why would they take this deal from them now 4 days to go still before the deadline.

    Turning down $300M to play baseball until your 36 years old. That's called rolling the dice.

    The thought of having to absorb $18 million as a fallback is a significant amount of money for someone who nearly missed an entire season with a calf injury and might be a shell of his former self. Get something of equal value, pay out his remaining salary if you must and move on without the added risk.
