Theres a lot of bias in what you just wrote. You could say this about the Blue Jays:
They have 3 major holes in their starting lineup CF, LF, 2B and it looks like one of those positions could be filled internally. Jose, Edwin and Reyes are all only going to decline and Reyes has one of the worst contracts in baseball. While they have some good pitching prospects, all it takes is one pitch to get injured and pitching can turn bad in a hurry.
They have ownership that looks like they don't want to spend and management that doesn't know how to build a true contender. Mix that with the inability to attract free agents and their future looks iffy.
Now I like the Blue Jays chances next year if they can pull off a few moves in the offseason but you are selling the Red Sox as some s***** baseball club when they have one of the best prospect pools in the majors and the ability to spend a lot of money.
