I will not argue about whether he should or shouldn't be fired. I want to talk about WILL he be fired. A new President will be hired at the end of the season. That President will want "his" GM, not a left over from the previous administration. So for AA to keep his job he NEEDS some kind of success to entrench himself in the position; and success is measured in wins and playoff appearances and championships.
Its only April, but he is certainly looking down the road and time slips by fast in a season. At some point AA, if the Blue Jays continue to struggle, will see his own job in jeopardy; with few options left change the team. I believe to him the easiest thing to try is a new manager. Since the firing of Jimmy Williams after a bad start in 1989, there has always been this hope in certain sectors that a team can be turned around by "the right guy".
If the Blue Jays continue to struggle, play at .500 or below in May, AA will get desperate, and I believe Gibbons being fired will happen.
