  1. I never said hutch didn't have talent, I said he's struggling and luck has a s*** ton less to do with it than you assume based off a limited evaluation process. It's narrow minded to assume the that the limited way these stats are measured is absolute, and then attach luck as a major deciding factor when evaluating. There is so much more to pitching that is currently not quantifiable, and as much as some on here feel the insatiable need to label as luck given these limitations, it just isn't fact. Booze makes me want to pick apart broadstrokes
  2. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/did-drew-hutchison-really-change-his-slider/ This is a great article that sheds some light hutch's slider woes. Luck is overused around here.
  3. The Stat(s) arent the issue, it's your propensity to use luck as such a significant imaginary metric
  4. Assigning luck so as to try label what you can't explain is an unscientific approach. Sorry but it's true.
  5. His fastball is awful right now. He routinely leaves it up in the zone and it has very little life to it. Pitching from the stretch seems like it affects his ability command it down in the zone consistently. His slider also looks nothing like what he showed the 2nd half of last season. It's lost bite, and I'm sure theirs a Stat/metric to measure its disparity from last year. Hutch is struggling big time, and assigning luck as its reason for said struggles is what I take issue with. I'm kind of excited to see how exit velocities off the bat translate to player evaluation, I think adding these new metrics might help to better explain how guys like Buehrle can be successful. One thing is for sure, it's definitely not mostly luck based as you seem to think.
  6. Wilmer Flores hitting the walk off tator tonight was pretty awesome, crowd went nuts all game for him.
  7. This is a great example of why only focusing on advanced stats to evaluate a player can lead to misguided assessments of players performances.
  8. It's obvious why we have rays fans posting here. That forum is as dead as the Governor on the walking dead
