  1. A thousand times yes! This is something I've brought up here, and on the Jays facebook page. I'd like to know who is responsible for directing the game. I don't mind crowd shots when they're candid. But I hate it when they actually have the fans waving to the camera. Or random shots of the cameraman making his way down the aisle. It feels like watching a news broadcast. It was especially bad two seasons ago, where they would constantly cut away from the action, so that they could get some fan's canned reaction. It ends up creating a feeling of artificiality. You would have thought they'd learn their lesson once this was caught on tape: http://images.t-nation.com/forum_images/3/8/384d8_ORIG-jays_fans.gif At least Sportsnet won't be the ones filming the playoffs.
  2. It would be great to go to a game at Camden Yards, wearing this jersey:
  3. Awesome. Here's my attempt: http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o241/t3cii/jays_zpsawhplhfy.jpg
  4. Cool rendering someone did of a post apocalyptic Toronto. Gives you an idea of what a glass dome would look like: http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5495/11245176586_2b84d3037e_b.jpg It also makes me think the whole area could use some more greenery. The area around the stadium and Tower is so dull, although I don't know who would be responsible for that. I'd put in more red tiling, like this: http://russiatrek.org/images/photo/yoshkar-ola-city-square.jpg
  5. "My fathers gay!"
  6. I can't find the full plans, but I would assume it would have been dependant on having a transit system in place. Keep in mind, I'm only suggesting a new stadium in the event Toronto actually won an Olympic bid. Since a bid would require a new stadium, and since the Portlands were rumoured to be a possible location, some team would need to move in once the Olympics were over.
  7. Specifically of these two moments: http://www.cbc.ca/sports-content/baseball/opinion/assets_c/2012/09/620-roberto-alomar-thumb-620xauto-226976.jpg http://www.kimplicity.com/fkim/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/mlb_g_carter01_412.jpg I was also thinking, if Toronto ever bid on an Olympics, that the Blue Jays could use that as a chance to get a new stadium. And if Toronto actually won a bid, they absolutely would need a new stadium. When Atlanta hosted the Olympics, they converted their Olympic stadium into a ball park. A new Olympics stadium would need a tenant, so why not the Jays? Early plans for the 2008 bid had a stadium at the Port Lands: http://www.blogto.com/upload/2015/07/20150727-Olympic-Render.jpg A park, built near the water, with the city in the background, could be great. 8. It's the point to the sky that does it. http://storage.torontosun.com/v1/dynamic_resize/sws_path/suns-prod-images/1297718112738_ORIGINAL.jpg?quality=80&size=420x
  9. Wow, you were in a very white class. Whereabouts did you grow up? As for me, 1992 was the year I actively started following the team for real.
  10. You're missing the point. They got him to do a commercial that was disguised as a puff piece, and got him to pay for it. He could have, assuming they let him know that he would be the one paying for it. We don't know what the circumstances were.
  11. Okay, but then, you're actually in need of a suit. It really comes down to how he was approached. If they said, "Hey, how would you like to get a new suit?", implying they would pay for it, then it's pretty misleading, don't you think? So Gotstyle gave him 50% off. Who does that benefit if he probably wasn't in the market for a suit in the first place? It benefits Gotsyle, as this was basically an ad for them. They got him to do a commercial without realizing he was doing one, and actually got him to pay them, in the end.
  12. Because it's likely been tailored for him. It's too late to return it.
  13. It works with any sentence! Try it. "Sometimes I have to autoerotic asphyxiate myself with a neck tie in order to get an erection. Not sayin' I'm proud of it, But it is what it is." http://assets3.sportsnet.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/gregg_zaun-640x360.jpg

  18. I distinctly remember the broadcasters signing off, and being slightly disappointed that they would no longer be the ones calling the games (although, I can't even remember the names of those guys). God, I miss that time in Toronto. Seeing the front of the Toronto Star's sport's section, with the little "the magic number is..", which was what ever number of games they had left to clinch the division. Watching the ALCS, which usually coincided with Thanksgiving. The Toronto Sun's horrible puns ("Who needs a hanky, we have Henke"). To think there's a whole generation of fans who weren't alive during that time. Here's a cool video that was filmed the night they won the '92 World Series. It's interesting as a time capsule, seeing the fashions, hair styles back then. And to see Toronto really cut loose. CBC news broadcast of the win. Rare footage of fans storming the field. I was there in the dome that night. Should the team actually end up in the World Series on the road, I hope the Rogers Centre lets fans watch it on the jumbotron: http://www.cbc.ca/archives/entry/toronto-blue-jays-win-baseballs-world-series-in-1992

  21. Like these paintings? http://images.trvl-media.com/media/content/shared/images/travelguides/destination/178314/Art-Gallery-Of-Ontario-49229.jpg I only ask because I liked the Canadian art in that area with the little balcony, but a lot of the Group of Seven, Emily Carr stuff leaves me cold. Just a lot of boring landscapes. Best thing to see in the ROM is probably the Egyptian exhibit.
  22. The ROM is okay, but I'd go with the AGO over it. I think there's more to see, although it really depends on what you're into, art, or artefacts. For me, seeing an actual Picasso, or Rodin, or Renoir was cool. I also felt the layout was easier to follow.
  23. Are you into art, at all? I was impressed with the Art Gallery of Ontario when I visited it recently.
