  1. As one fan on the Raptors RealGM message board said "this game is like porn for Celtics haters".
  2. So what then? We resign Lowry? Be content with just making it to the playoffs?
  3. Tank. Keep tanking until you can draft some future stars and develop the team. It will take longer than 4 years, but keep in mind this team almost did rebuild after the Rudy Gay trade. I really don't see any other way for this team to compete. Especially when Lebron isn't retiring any time soon, and since no star wants to sign here. Making the playoffs and being eliminated in the first round or two just doesn't cut it.
  4. Smart move would be to trade him. They have to realize it will never work with Lowry and Derozan.
  5. One of the lesser known Bob Marley songs.
  6. 20 years, at least. Maybe more. They're married to the location. And they bought the stadium cheap. But I do wonder if they keep tabs on available land. There may come a time when there's no available land left. The only realistic location I can think of would be Ontario Place.
  7. Well, the Rangers new stadium is going to cost about a billion. That's going to have a retractable roof, and a hotel. I'd imagine if the Blue Jays ever built a new stadium, it would probably also have to have a roof of some sort as well.
  8. Should have blown the team up when we had the chance.
  9. Pretty much. I mean, we failed to make it to the World Series the past two seasons, and if we couldn't do it with those teams, we're not going to do it with this one. At least maybe the success of the Leafs rebuild will take out the sting for some fans.
  10. Yeah, I don't want to go back to the days of the team being mediocre. Of just missing out on a wild card birth. I'd rather they rebuild, especially since they have so much trouble attracting free agents, and the team isn't getting any younger.
  11. Doesn't a Montreal franchise depend on the Rays moving out of Tampa?
  12. Oh, I'm all for building a new stadium, but Rogers seem to be married to this spot.
  13. It might be, but does there not come a point where it becomes worth the effort to at least try?
  14. A poster named Interchange 42 posted these photos at Urban Toronto. I wonder what's going on? http://urbantoronto.ca/forum/attachments/dsc08700-jpg.99261/ http://urbantoronto.ca/forum/attachments/dsc08701-jpg.99262/ http://urbantoronto.ca/forum/threads/rogers-centre-renovations.23794/page-28
  15. Keep in mind this would be over the next 30 years. I think they need to repair the roof. They'll replace the seats. I think they also want to maybe add more areas like the flight deck. I'm not sure what else.
  16. Stephen Brunt was saying it looks like the team will be spending about a billion in stadium renovations in the years to come. Or roughly what you'd pay for a new stadium. Kind of depressing that the team will likely be stuck in the Rogers Center for the next 30 years. There's only so many ways you can improve this stadium, and the biggest (grass) doesn't sound like it's in the cards.
  17. Safeco seems like the best idea of a stadium with a roof, although I don't know how warm it would be in the colder months. But at least they managed to include a view of the city skyline: http://baseballchick.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/safeco.jpg
  18. It's a good location, but still requires you to walk about ten minutes if you're coming from Union. And besides some bars and restaurants, you have a lot of ugly condos surrounding the stadium.
  19. It's part of the ambiance. Like you're going to a park. If it was just about appearance, other stadiums would move to turf.
  20. Disappointing, but I suppose not all that surprising. http://bluejaysnation.com/2017/2/13/don-t-hold-your-breath-for-rogers-centre-grass
  21. Certainly. But my worry is that Rogers won't leave well enough alone and will eventually make the red uniforms part of the set.
  22. They don't need to pander to them. Particularly when so many people outside of Toronto like to s*** on this city. Besides that, when fans show up in droves all wearing blue (the blue alternates are probably the most popular), it creates a look of unity, especially when the team is also wearing them. This is especially true when the team travels to Seattle. It's like playing a home game. You never saw this back in the 90's, because fans generally didn't go all out when it came to team gear. That's not the case anymore, so why mess with a good thing? Plus, the red uniforms are just ugly. The red maple leaf against the red of the cap just doesn't stand out: Enough tinkering with the set. The organization made a mistake when they first changed the uniforms not long after the team's greatest success, and for years they kept tinkering with it until they finally nailed it with the current set. I'd just like to see the organization have some respect for the brand.
  23. Leave it to Rogers to want to mess with the jersey again. ignoring the fact that fans mostly now wear blue to games, or that the blue alternates are the overwhelming favorites to wear, or that Blue should be the main colour since they're the Blue Jays. And enough of this "this is Canada's team" crap. I don't give a s*** if some ******* in Regina likes to watch. George is getting upset!
