  1. There’s no major fumble. Just bad luck. They acquired Burnes last year and had a great season. It’s easy to look at it now and say it’s bad. They had a setback on Grayson and Bradish is coming along slower than ideal. This year, it was supposed to be Bradish, Grayson, Elfin. That’s a legit contender 1-3. Hypothetically, if they signed Burnes and had a Top 4 on paper with anyone in baseball, what difference would it be making right now? You guys are quick to dump on SD type teams when things don’t click one year but then you go quiet when it’s clear their long term plan and development in much better than the Jays and their “defense wins games” philosophy
  2. I was merely marveling at my own clairvoyance in the matter. I wasn’t expending any energy on thinking about what you guys may have thought.
  3. You’re the Sabr guy but I’d imagine SP with consistent 10/3 K/BB stick around rotations, unlike 5 ERA guys.
  4. Also, as I said on draft day, Braden Montgomery would be the next prospect that got my official seal of approval. I expect him to be Top 5-10 by mid-year rankings next year. Likely Top 5 and late year coffee
  5. My rebuilding teams* theyre all hitting. Like 75% success rate. I didn’t stick around to enjoy the fruits of my labor,
  6. Well, focus on the ticket prices in Tampa, I’m not sure everyone knows what a great deal you can get. also, can someone confirm that I drafted Jacob Wilson in fantasy. I feel like I did but I’m not 100% certain
  7. I made one of best trades ever, in a highly competitive fantasy league last year and I’m not reaping the rewards of my wizardry:( Acquiring Hunter Brown when all the chips were down. Paid only Valdez. Starting his very next appearance after I traded for him, after maybe his first 10 starts last year, until this moment now, he’s likely the best SP in baseball. I’m in Tampa and will go see him pitch from the very front row in the box in Tampa, with my kid. $50/per ticket including all fees I could’ve gotten 2 rows back for $20 per ticket, but figured I may as well splurge. Not too often you get a see a regular season game at those prices
  8. I’m usually right about guys far sooner than most here. Your emotions and fandom blind you to players like Danny Jansen and most of their AAAA players, Brownie Troop (or Troupe, eh) leader suggesting 29 is someone’s physical prime belies established science. Also, you should’ve posted this on a day where Riley G didn’t take the Jays to pound town.
  9. The only thing he did better was put more out. Went from consistently good power guy 27-30 HR guy over a full season, to putting out 44 in contract year. The next year he’s nowhere close, likely won’t touch that number again. We’re all free to draw our own conclusions.
  10. I do think this and it’s why I look at numbers with suspicion at times. Baseball testing isn’t hard to get around. Like I said, most of the people getting popped are mostly on the PCT size of it. As you would expect, people are going to consider it much more so in the arb years coming into FA. Santander made $2m and $3m, not a ton after taxes, in his first couple of years. He got himself a $100m deal. Why run cycles now and risk losing over $10m in salary and a black eye with the team and baseball? I think you only see the motivation come from the guys on big contracts where they used to be superstars and they’re trying to hang on to that, or get back to that. The expectation to be the best.
  11. Santander was always pretty much Eddie Rosario. It’s a really close comp. All the sudden he puts 44 balls out. Rosario it should be noted completely disappeared at 30
  12. I don’t buy the guys that have their best year at 30, right before FA. Sorry. Juicing in baseball isn’t really difficult. You can run a couple cycles in the off-season and come into the season clean. Mostly everyone is getting caught in the “cruise/PCT phase” with HCG, Nolvadex, etc. It’s really not worth the gamble imo. They should just let their T levels normalize naturally. They arent running 2000-3000mg wk like body builders do on cycle, To my understanding too, they only have one test during the year, so if you get it in June, you can hop back on, as you won’t be tested again. I think Santander is what his career stats say he is. .240 hittter, .765 OPS. His power makes him 10% better than league average.
  13. 50 years later, after #Metoo and a hard shift to the Left on many social issues, half the US is still at 16 as the age of consent. If find Bill Belichicks situation far more gross. There’s plenty of celebrity relationships with very wide gaps. Luckily, the virtue signaling has been pretty quiet with Rose and the HOF controversy has been limited to the gambling, which was properly investigated and documented.
  14. George Washington owned slaves!!!! I’ve sent many letters to my government to take him off the $1 bill, along with all other ways he’s glorified. All the schools that his name is attached to. It’s absolutely disgusting to me and so what Pete Rose MAY have done (with no proof or criminal investigation) that was illegal 50 years ago, really grinds my gears too!!!!
  15. They shouldn’t make a single trade until they have a new GM. He doesn’t know what to look for. He’d likely get another plus defender with a light stick.
  16. Makes it that much more palatable. MLB draft is a crapshoot. Tanking isn’t the way to go from a business perspective. That’s why the corporate big wigs keep giving this guy money and he doesn’t spend it right. $100m to Gimenez to maybe hunt down a ball that another guy might not get 1 out of 30 events, isn’t going of get you much of an ROI from the casuals.
  17. Vlad up to 133 wRC+ without even hitting full stride. Imagine how f***ing pathetic the offensive roster would look now and in the future without him. Bo, who I never at any point advocated for signing long term, will likely take a Bellinger/Correa pillow type 3 year deal with opt outs, but it will not be with the Jays.
  18. WOW. A board changes over and personalities with it. You would roast someone in 2024 for this take, at the same period. Also, where are all people “AJ Preller is a terrible GM” and Ross Atkins is a ninja
  19. Have you enjoyed not having anyone your own size around when you wanted to pick on people? Schoop was still one of the best 2nd gloves in 2019 before hitting FA, he just missed some games. 13 WAR in 780 games. He went into FA as a league average bat in his last year (the more valuable piece in FA), unlike Gimenez’ current downward trajectory, He got 1/6 bro. 5 years ago. Gimenez by The Bat, which we’ve agreed in the past tends to be he most accurate, has him projected at roughly 17 WAR over 700 games, Mind you, all of the projections have him being better than a league average bat this year, which is questionable, to say the least. Can you say that Player B is on a different level than Player A? It’s certainly a stretch, There’s no market for those guys. Only the Bluejays. Tampa picks them up for a million and Toronto pays them $20m
  20. You’re still lapping up the Upper Classman milk, I see. For years, great defending 2b like Schoop and Wong could “scooped” up on cheap short term contracts. It’s terrible asset management, You don’t pay premiums for those guys.
  21. Let me move the goalposts to the fact that no other team goes near that contract with a 10 foot pole.
  22. As I said, you could find any random minor leaguer, all glove, to probably give you better for league minimum. Gimenez hitting for $20m. Vlad underlying stats all solid. 123 wRC+ on a team starving for hitting. Making $28m
  23. On a positive note, I like the Turnbull signing. I loved the Hoffman signing (proven by me always seeking him in fantasy prior to FA). I’m still a Vlad guy, Give me Vlad and his floor all day, over more money for Santander, Kirk, and Gimenez. They should’ve fired the GM. Gimenez was completely unnecessary. Varsho was supposed to be a finishing piece. Now they let the guy triple down on his s***** vision that defense wins titles
  24. Whatever WAR Gimenez can give you, there’s a guy in the minors that can do the same. He’ll never make the majors though if he projects to hit like Gimenez. Gimenez is negative value. Facts.
  25. I feel no desire to continue the offense/defense monetary value debate in this new forum. If you want to dig up all the posts last season where you guys insisted a 1b could only get $200m on the open market, I know you’re capable of digging that up. B**ch,
