    And Rays. Looking possible the Sox won't finish last.. because the O's and Rays stink because they don't hit enough and have bullpen issues(Rays), or not enough starting pitching or offensive consistency (O's)

    Salazar/Anderson/Bauer as it stands. Amazingly, Cleveland is still hanging around the fringes of contention.. but they need help from anybody facing the Rangers if they want a shot to move up in the race (5.0 GB). They could surpass the Rays and O's if they sweep the Angels..

    Rangers win. O's postseason hopes are going down the tubes, along with Tampa's. Suddenly, Toronto's 22-year drought is closer to ending.. Minnesota lost as well, BTW.

    Which is the only thing Girardi thinks when he needs to go to the pen, as he has few reliable options besides them.

    For now at least.. how they do vs. AL East teams is another question. The Yanks face nothing but AL East teams, and the Mets, with a late series vs. the White Sox. Yanks also need to start hitting better.. they can get away with tonight's weak offensive performance vs. Atlanta, but do this vs. the AL East and they'll get burned.

    When's the Boston series? The Braves stink.. at least the Red Sox will be a challenge to the Yankees. I mean, the Sox have been much better this month, especially since Rusney Castillo and JBJ starting playing regularly, and Owens and Kelly returned to the rotation..

    Unless the O's pull him back, then he's ineligible. They've probably already tried that.. and pulled him back. So this isn't worth talking about.

    While Toronto sells out, the Rays, facing the soon-to-be AL Central champs, the KC Royals, drew just 13,622 for a Friday game (and real numbers are likely in the 4 digits.) And the Rays are also fading in the wild card.. could be a battle between Texas and Minnesota for a date vs. the Yankees in the play-in game to get clobbered by the Royals.

    O's can't trade Davis. He wouldn't clear waivers, and would likely get claimed by someone below the Yanks in the standings.
