  1. There's no way Sanchez is on an innings limit still. We're talking about a difference of what, 20 innings? You do whatever it takes at this point, even if there is a (slight) chance it could result in an injury to Sanchez. It's like poker. You don't fold your full house because the other guy could have 4 of a kind. All in baby!
  2. ....really? I'm not sure what your eyes are telling your brain but they're wrong.
  3. Who cares what Tulo would/wouldn't get. We know what he WILL get and this is a thread about Bautista. Personally, I don't even think Bautista gets a 2/$35M offer with that draft pick attached to him unless he tears the cover off the ball for the rest of the year/post season.
  4. Well, I'd gladly take the draft pick for both of them. I'd hate to be the GM that goes all in on either one. How do you try to sell that to your fanbase? Eww..
  5. Who in their right mind would throw money, term and a draft pick at JB? I know GMs are crazy but this one seems like a no brainer to me. Stay away...
  6. Given how this season has gone, that's insane money for JB. If he gets offered a multi year deal for $20M per he'd take it and run. Not sure that deal exists though.
  7. I'd be ok with that. I was just wondering if anyone else thought he'd be offered anything better in free agency. I think it's unlikely at this point.
  8. Well what are you saying then? Obviously he gets a QO. Are you suggesting he'll accept?
  9. You wouldn't qualify him?
  10. What a horrible season. Yes, injuries have played a big part in it but Bautista's play has deteriorated at an alarming rate over the last couple of years. His defense was bad last year and when healthy this year, his offense has declined significantly. So what do you guys think he can realistically expect going into free agency? Especially considering that the team that signs him will have to give up their first round pick. This may have sounded crazy earlier in the year but is there a chance that he actually accepts his QO? I don't even think he's going to get 2 years at $20M. Who in their right mind would give up their 1st round pick for him at this point? Sucks to be Joey Bats. He was a f***in hero a year ago. Meanwhile EE is sitting pretty, showing him how it's done.
  11. I'm a big Canucks fan and Jim Benning got fined earlier this summer for making comments about Stamkos and Subban. Stamkos was going to be UFA in a matter of days and Subban was signed long term. So one would have potentially been signed as a free agent and one would have to be traded for. Either way, I don't believe you can make comments like that about any player under contract with another team.
  12. I wonder why know one in the media has brought up Bautista's throwing arm and how he likely has a significant injury?
  13. Chances are both of those contracts turn out to be bad, unless that young player is Bryce Harper.
  14. See the funny thing is everyone was quick to jump on EE's 'major decline' but he had yet to get hot, something he does EVERY year. Obviously he won't be able to maintain this pace but no one should be surprised by how well he's been hitting lately. Bautista on the other hand has clearly declined in almost every aspect except maybe in the walk column and it's not jus a hot/cold thing. He is a shell of the player that he used to be. He's still a productive hitter but he's no longer elite with the bat and he provides arguably negative value with the glove.
  15. I may just be the only person that didn't. It took me a minute to figure out what Gov meant by that. I just don't see a world where we re-sign Bautista. There's no way he comes down to $20M after asking for $30M. Even $20M may be a bit much unless he goes on a tear in the 2nd half. I'd give them both 2 years @ $20M. I'd also give EE 3 years @ $18M.
  16. If Ortiz does in fact retire then Boston could be a serious player for EE.
  17. I guess the question is would you go 3 years? 2 isn't going to get it done.
  18. OK OPS isn't great, fair enough. But you can't completely discredit a guy that's one of the best run producers in baseball because his OPS isn't elite.
  19. I'm not an advanced stats guy, but EE has been raking lately and now leads the league in RBI. GMs are generally against giving big money long term contracts out to DHs. A lot of posters on this board were against giving him more than 2 years. But his performance this year has been very good. Has EEs performance to date changed your mind? What do you think it will take to get him re-signed? He clearly wants to stay in TO. Thoughts?
  20. Joe Biagini might have something to say about that...in no way, shape or form would I be putting Storen in over Biagini. Same thing goes for Grilli until he proves himself. Biagini has earned that right.
  21. Do they ever announce what the PTBNL or cash arrangements are? I'd just be curious to know how these deals end up looking. Like if we received cash, how much did we get?
  22. lol riiiiight...those are punches and this a black belt in Taekwondo: http://giphy.com/gifs/dance-awkward-QDYXASCjiW568
  23. Maybe Stevie Wonder has a 6th sense? Care to show video of Pillar throwing any number of punches? 1 punch will suffice.
