  1. Completely unrelated, but I noticed people use a lot of sabermetrics on this board (which flies completely over my head). What's the best (and easiest) way to learn sabermetrics? It seems daunting...
  2. Is he any good defensively? He led the league in passed balls in 2011...he also allowed the most stolen bases last year, while also throwing out the 2nd most runners.
  3. Would 3 years, $27M do the trick? The Boston Red Sox and Jarrod Saltalamacchia have been negotiating, but there are reportedly three teams that could sign the free agent catcher. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman writes that the Minnesota Twins, the Colorado Rockies and "possibly" the Toronto Blue Jays "have been identified as among the teams that could be threats to steal" Saltalamacchia from the Red Sox. A source told Heyman the Texas Rangers appear content with catcher Geovany Soto and are not likely to make a bid for Saltalamacchia. The Red Sox have made the 28-year-old backstop a two-year offer but he remains a free agent. A.J. Pierzynski and Dioner Navarro are the next best available free agent options at catcher at the moment. http://emsite.thescore.com/mlb/news/364701
  4. LOL sweet avatar (The Cat's Ass) Lind is decent but he had a couple bad years and now people don't want to admit that they were wrong about him. They won't be able to complain much after this year when he likely puts up similar numbers to last year. Am I the only one that's high on Sierra? If he matures a little and learns how to take better routes at balls in the OF, he'd be a solid starter. I see him hitting .265 15-20 HR 30+ 2B 75 RBI if given enough playing time. Someone earlier compared Sierra to Thames but the only thing Thames had going for him was some pretty sweet sideburns. Sierra has tools! Just ask Buck and Tabler LOL
  5. What's a realistic price for Samardzija? Is Gose, Norris and Nolin an over payment?
  6. DickeyWangJohnson is reason enough to change boards...
  7. Just curious...was it people from other MLB team forums that trolled/ruined the board on the official Jays site or just *******/incompetent Jays fans?
  8. Someone indirectly referred me. I heard about this site through the TO/STL trade proposal on the Jays official site. Someone suggested that they re-post it on this board, so I checked it out myself. My handle is vic city on both sites. I always wondered why the Jays board was so dead. I'm a big Canucks fan and the canucks.com board is pretty bumpin 365 days a year.
  9. "Please keep new threads to a minimum This could have gone in the around baseball thread" Every board has a Chief of police
  10. I mean...he's pretty funny. If he was a Jay I would hate him but the fact that he's a Yankee and tried to pick up a girl during a game is pretty awesome!
  11. Hi, 1st post on this message board but I'm a regular on the official website. I thought I'd post this here since it seems a lot more active. http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/story/?id=437072#YourCallTop We all know he's guilty but I have no ill will towards A-Rod. I think this whole trial is an interesting debate actually. I bet something like 30% of players were on juice back then...maybe even more? Bud Selig turned a blind eye to it for years and now he's trying to make A-Rod the villian, while he rides off into the sunset that retirement is. However, Bud Selig is no hero! Well, maybe to the owners he is. So news is that Selig refused to testify as to what his logic was behind the 211 game suspension (odd number). Then A-Rod slammed the desk, yelled some curses and stormed out LOL. I'm curious what everyone else thinks of this? I doubt A-Rods ability to have a fair trial at this point...is the MLB process unfair? And on a side note, A-Rod would have to forfeit his salary so of course he's fighting this! Plus he probably doesn't want to get shunned like Barry Bonds. I'd probably fight it to the death too. Imagine how many players in the history of MLB that used steroids and never got caught. Some of those players are the heroes of baseball history. I say let him play...stick it to the Yankees and what ever idiot signed that atrocious contract PS: Just curious why most people choose this message board over the official site? I didn't know about this forum until about week ago.
