  1. I see similarities in their approaches/swings at the plate. Edwin used to swing wildly and was still somewhat effective. But it wasn't until he shortened his swing that he became the hitter that he is today. I think Sierra's swing has been pretty long/wild the last couple years but he has shown that he has that raw power like Edwin. I think Sierra will develop into a solid power threat once he figures his swing out...just like Edwin did.
  2. Not saying he'll reach that potential this year but I see him taking a big step forward.
  3. I've said in the past I think Sierra will surprise people this year. His bat has Edwin potential.
  4. Is it just me or does Melky look in shape??
  5. Todd Redmond is clearly winning the Cy Young.
  6. Saaaay whuuuuuut?!? Thank you good sir!
  7. It's really all AA's fault. Got fans bitching in a Brent Morel thread... Here's hoping Lawrie and Goins tear it up in the preseason and actually give us something to talk about for once.
  8. I don't think 2B is as much of concern right now. We can always trade for a 2B during the season if Goins bombs. But we know he plays solid defense and I think he has earned the chance to at least start the 1st few weeks at 2B. I'm more nervous about going into this year without adding to our SP. I have high hopes for some of our depth SP but I'd feel A LOT more comfortable with one more vet in the mix.
  9. I think Sierra's bat will surprise some people this year and if Gose can hit .250 with plus defense I'll be satisfied.
  10. I like our depth too. We've had so many injuries over the years, you just have to think we'll catch a break with one of these guys and they'll turn into a middle rotation starter. There's just too much talent in that group to not have one break through. Having said that, I'm tired of going into spring training with a bunch of what ifs. AA has had plenty of time to assess this team and if he doesn't upgrade SP or 2B then he better be right about this team because his job is on the line.
  11. LOL I used to have that for Sega. It was actually kind of fun.
  12. Pretty much sums it up. I'm just glad this is over with. That and it gives me 1 more (big) reason to hate NYY. Now let's see how AA responds...
  13. Pretty much hey? This board needs a spark! I also can't help but think Kershaw's new contract is going to drive FA prices up even more...
  14. It's one or the other + other pieces.
  15. That would be unreal......but unfortunately won't happen.
  16. I'm not saying that's the best way to spend money but Zaun is just pointing out that we still probably aren't a playoff team by just signing one of these guys.
  17. I like Zaun's comment. He calls it how it is. It just puts more pressure on Rogers to pay up.
  18. Given the let down of last year and the protected draft pick next year, I think AA knows that he needs to sign one of Garza, Jiminez, Santana or Tanaka just to save face. Let's just hope he doesn't miss out on his top 3 choices and then throw the bank at the only one left. It's a tough call to make though. All 4 options come with a lot of risk. Garza has been the most consistent but Tanaka is the only one I see with a real shot at posting an ERA under 4 in the AL East (if he's at least 75% as good as Darvish). Either way, I think we're going to have to over pay for one of these guys and Jays fans aren't going to like the contract.
  19. Agreed. I think there's a good chance one of either Happ, Hutch or Drabek has a breakout year. As for Stroman, I don't have high expectations for his rookie season. It's not very often a rookie pitcher comes out and handles the AL East. Just thinking...when was the last time we had a rookie pitcher come in and turn heads? Was Billy Koch a rookie? We've had a couple solid rookie seasons in the BP but that's about it. Roy Halladay had some gems early on.
  20. Once it's on the internet it never goes away!
  21. While listening to Tag Team - Whoomp there it is
  22. Maybe if you die tomorrow you can catch up in your next life? #thinkingoutsideofthebox
  23. Did you hear that Michael Jackson died of food poisoning? He ate a 12 year old weiner. lol
