If you're ES, why hurry? Say the Jays have offered around $14.2M. Maybe they make it a 24-hour offer. That would give the other 29 teams a full day to one-up that deal. I think that's the agents tack, start a bidding war at the QO amount. It's genius. ES isn't out any money from what he could have accepted months ago, and he possibly gets a little (or lot) more.

I know you, and many others disagree, like 99% of you. But I'm okay with Goins at 2B. His defense is just sooooo good. This may be PR spin, but Seitzer told the Jays brass NOT to sign anyone and give Goins a chance because he figures he can make his offence solid. Great defence means our pitchers will perform better.

Tweets are saying Rockies are out and Baltimore can't match the $14M. This bodes well. Watch the f***ing Yanks swoop in and step on our throat.

How much is a 1st rounder worth? They get those two pitchers, lots of WAR and two 1st rounders next year (but I know, nothing is guaranteed)? I think he could have convinced management to spend the moolah. Also, he would have traded Happ away to save ~ $6M of that.

Are you sure? Two potential 1st rounders as compensation after the 2014 season to replenish the farm? Two pitchers who may combine for 6-7 WAR during a season when they are going for it? Two pitchers in the final year of their contract? You can't align the stars more. BTW, I predict JJ could be the NL Cy Young winner.

I think, in the last year, he got a fact wrong on something, can't remember what, but it wasn't about FA's. If he reports Santana has signed, I will book it. Literally.

Was the QO $14.1M? I say he'd be happy signing for $14.2 - that way he doesn't have any regrets turning down the QO.

I don't think anyone says he's a saviour. But on our staff, he might be the best pitcher. We have a horrible staff.

Jeezus GM_AA, sign this guy NOW! Is anyone else getting a tired finger from hitting F5? This would mean we DFA Redmond or Rogers, though, which is sort of disappointing. But I think AA would be trying hard to get rid of Happ at this point, so that's good.

If this is true, and Rosenthal has been gold, 1-year deal for $14M or so would be a no-brainer. He's a 2-3 WAR pitcher for us I reckon. In terms of Happ, I wonder if KC would like him with Hochevar down for the season with TJ surgery.

KC's Hochevar is out for the season, needing TJ surgery. Think there is a chance we could trade Happ to KC for anything? Free up his spot for a younger guy?

Me too. I think 1.5+ WAR is doable. As opposed to the whole Happ arm slot myth, I think Goins will be okay offensively and freaking fantastic defensively. I love Kawa but he's good for about 0.7 WAR. I want Izturis cut. Yesterday.

Yes please. Stinking Baltimore is signing Santana to a minor-league deal. He'll be ready by July I wager, and effective for a great deal.
