  1. I am firmly in the approve camp as the positive moves he has made outweigh the negatives. Obviously the dickey trade was a huge error but the way he has rebuilt the farm system twice in a way that JPR never could is a massive plus for me. There's no way we could have dreamt about trading for JD, Tulo or price 10 years ago. I enjoy the buzz he has created around the place at several points in the last 5 years, particularly with the high profile trades this year. I think these outweigh the negatives of poor bench management as it is much more impactful. Also, I think we underestimate how difficult it is to create an effective roster when working in Toronto & you have a limited chance at snapping up top free agents. I think he had done extremely well to create one of the best teams in the AL through his drafting and subsequent trading.
  2. Would prefer some interesting & informative commentators that make it more enjoyable instead of listening to pat tabler rattling on about 'shooting the ball the other way' 7 times a game. Feel free to carry on stupidly whining about people stupidly whining though.
  3. Martinez and tabler are honestly terrible. So dull and provide absolutely no analysis whatsoever. I can't believe a self respecting sports channel employs them as lead commentator/analyst. Painful.
  4. Id be interested. Dunno exactly what everything involves but keen to find out!
  5. Cheers for telling me bout my own experiences. That's pretty cool.
  6. I've not read the rest of the thread but I needed to reply to this specifically "people are not friendly". As someone who has visited Toronto as a tourist it is an incredibly friendly place. More so than any other city I've visited (which is many). I loved the people of Toronto and am very much looking forward to coming back as a result.
  7. Why not delete the irrelevant posts and let the posters know these are not acceptable? And maybe a baseball conversation would have threatened to break out. As an aside, im a little reluctant to get involved in this but im fed up of a lot of topics being derailed by personal gripes and irrelevant posts.
  8. love it, not really deserving of the name statman.
  9. Based on that would you not rather protect him somewhat and increase the chances he can be effective in sep/oct?
  10. Actually thought AA came across really well in that interview - well enough to have me reconsider my position. The one nagging doubt I have remaining is that he was unable to pick up anyone at the level of headley/mccarthy/cabrera where other teams gave up relatively little. They may prove redundant in a couple of weeks when we're fully healthy but can't have enough depth & it would save us from goins in the meantime.
  11. love a trade that takes me by surprise and this certainly did that! out and about so im unable to look up numbers but out of interest where did cespedes rank on the top 100 players by trade value?
  12. This is mental. Cespedes?!?!?!
  13. Its not over yet. Before you weirdo bastards start slitting your wrists. We can still win this game!
  14. Buehrle gets a lot of stick, especially with regards to his salary but I reckon everyone here would pay a large proportion (maybe not quite as much as he's due) of what he is due to have a number 2/3 starter as good as him. Bad timing for this maybe, but mark buehrle is still a valuable member of this team.
  15. Be careful here. If you express 1000 opinions and are correct with one then maybe don't overhype yourself, still wrong with 999.
  16. I disagree. Standing pat means your damaging the value of your trade assets. They'll lose time on their contracts and you've more chance of getting a team to put together the beat deal if they're desperate and on the cusp of success. A win now trade doesn't have to be franchise-crippling (although im not confident AA is aware of this).Headley and McCarthy were just picked up with little impact on the Yankees farm system.
  17. AA has to man up and either make a move to improve the team or start selling and rebuild for 15/16. This standing pat ******** is only hampering the teams chances for next year and beyond.
  18. Headley and mccarthy may or may not make a difference but the Yankees are at least taking the chance that these guys will improve them and give them a better chance at competing this year. Its infuriating that AA continues to sit back, relax, call up goins, claim mills all while the teams around us get better. At least be man enough to admit you are throwing in the towel on the season! Ragin'
  19. Find that quite interesting. I like Redmond, seems to do a good job every time I see him. Does the difference between his fip and xfip suggest he has got a bit lucky with home runs? (bit new to the advanced stats)
  20. Of course its unsustainable..or else teams would finish with 140-22 records. It still happened though. And the jays could get hot again.
  21. still in a position to challenge. One more 'fluke' month could get us to October. Especially with such a poor division. a little bit of optimism!
