  1. UZR is Ultimate Zone Rating in runs above average (Arm+DPR+RngR+ErrR). So four items combined ARm, Double Play, Range and Error rating. I think the range rating takes into account how far the OF moves to make plays. This season our four OF range ratings (by position) are as follows: Rasmus -11 (was +14.6 LY), Gose +2.3, Bautista -0.5, Cabrerra -4.7 (-6.8 LY) so I think that is consistent with my "eye test". I hope a healthy Rasmus can come back with a return to LY fielding ability.
  2. This is the premise for my comment that I never would consider Gose over Rasmus but in reviewing the stats - Gose is 37.0/150 this year in 141inn. (but was -24.6/150 last year in 269inn) . Rasmus was 15.2/150 uzr last year over 1002inn. but over his career in CF 5,671inn his UZR/150 is -0.2, do we need someone with a positive UZR patrolling CF??
  3. I don't like the potential pick of Turner.... if his hit tool is his weak link then why risk it? The Jays need a solid position player who can make contact and has a solid approach at the plate. Not a speed burner who needs a major FIX
  4. defensive stats don't support that. Lawrie is inexperienced at 2B, his footwork at 2B is not above average. His arm strength is.
  5. 1/3 of a season shows a lot for an aging outfielder
  6. True on all points, but the Jays need to mix in some above average defenders. Fielding a team of mashers will catch up to you eventually With Gose out of the lineup all defenders (except some pitchers) are average or below average. I hope a healthy Rasmus is above average but so far this year he's at the bottom That was the point with Goins at the start of the season. It also gets Lawrie back to third where he is a good defender
  7. Look at the uzr stats. Both Cabrera and Bautista are well below average and near the bottom of the league. Their range is poor (as is rasmus). Thus the potential of keeping a high end defender in CF (Gose)
  8. I used to believe Rasmus would automatically get cf back but look at the defensive stats. This season Rasmus is bottom of the league bad and Gose is gold glove caliber good. When do you say defence is important enough to keep Gose on the field. Especially with two other lugs in left and right field
  9. Lawrie was awfully happy for a guy hitting .150 for the year
  10. from chat today mike (Ontario Canada): Stroman seems to have started the year well, is he ready for the majors? Would you have him relieve or start? Ben Badler: He's ready now. I would be 100 percent committed to him as a starter. Four average to plus pitches, a huge strikeout rate and potentially plus command? If they move him to the bullpen just because he's 5-foot-9, I think they're out of their minds.
  11. Gose is not playing with the Bluejays because he is not making solid contact. Well neither is Sierra I'm not a fan of Gose, but we need him up here now so Bautista doesnt hurt himself playing CF. Sierra is not helping, get Gose up for defence
  12. Kuroda will get more than $14m
  13. I think QO is the way to go. Pitching market is THIN. JJ has upside. It is another arm in the mix for a starting spot. and believe it or not i think $14m will be cheap compared to what some of these mediocre free agent pitchers get this offseason
  14. 1B Abreu - strong bat, scouts not sure he can hit above average fastball 2B Guerarro - skilled 2b, now has Boras as agent.... P Tanaka - undefeated in Japan Is there any chance Jays go after these guys? Guerarro with goins as backup plan would shore up 2b. Always need more pitching
  15. Minimum he is back up middle infielder. He can play SS or 2B for extended periods based on his defense alone. Big upgrade defensively over Kawasaki, Izturis and Boni (Reyes to for that matter)
  16. plus he sucks this year. he's part of the reason they r on the downslide
  17. Finished with 3 in the 2nd game. Barretto was 1 for 4 and is down to .269 Wish we drafted a few position players
  18. Colby ops by age - all in the majors 22 .714 23 .859 24 .688 25 .689 26 .803 (this year) I'm just saying dont excuse Gose bad year on his age. If its being disinterested then there is more to worry about. Last season he did not excel or dominate. He's got ALOT to work on. His hit tool likely means he's going to be a part time player (similar to a Kawasaki type player). Sorry but that is the likely outcome
  19. Rasmus had his best year in the majors I believe. Look at Harper. He just turned 20
  20. He's already been benched about a month ago. He misplayed a fly ball in the ninth inning then did not throw ball in. I think he was sat for three games. My memory is vague but that is what I remember. Anyone have specifics? Should he be sent back a level?
  21. Very questionable draft strategy.
  22. The shine has come off the Gose penny. He has been exposed and been found lacking the very important hit tool
  23. Position players in general suck throughout the jays system. Very weak
