  1. Thanks King. Much Appreciated.
  2. What are the best sites and/or twitter follows to keep up on daily reports from spring training? Thanks in advance.
  3. Venditte sent to Seattle for PTBNL. That is a strange trade.
  4. I know Ames well - graduated from Iowa State. A little on Matt (my nephew): You are correct on the velocity - sits 89-92. A few times announcers have said he has touched 94 when watching games, but I have a feeling every stadium gun is going to be a little different. He has lived mainly fastball/slider but has also thrown his change-up sparingly. His command has always been his strength - at every level his K/BB numbers have always been good. They challenged him during spring training to focus on getting lefties out, which he has done pretty well. Obviously he has never been high on the prospect list, but nothing really surprises me with him. He is an extremely humble and hard-working kid. If it ever happens for it him it will truly be deserved - relentless work ethic and has never let the ups and downs of the minors getting him down.
  5. Article on Matt's season... http://jaysjournal.com/2016/07/13/blue-jays-reliever-matt-dermody-promoted-to-aaa-amid-dominant-2016/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
  6. King - sorry if already discussed...
  7. They are still in the top of the 9th - 10-0 now. His pitching count was in the 90s so I am sure he is finished.
  8. Matt is finished with 8IP, 0R, 4H, 1BB and 6K. Best pro start so far. Struggled with command in his first two starts this year. He walked only 3 total last year, but had 3 in both his first two starts this year. Tonight he was in complete command - first pitch strike all night.
  9. Yeah. Just didn't appear that he could get his command.
  10. Struggling with his command. Has more walks tonight than all of last year. Hopefully can get it turned around and get at least 6 innings.
  11. He really doesn't know anything yet. My thinking was if they used him as a starter in the spring he would start in Lansing. If he was coming out of the bullpen I thought maybe Dunedin. They are preparing him as a starter, so I am guessing Lansing. I have no real knowledge to base that off, so take it for what it is worth.
  12. Any reports from spring training games out there? Matt has pitched a couple live batting practice sessions, one intersquad and one minor league game against the Yanks team. I don't have specific numbers but, he felt good about the outings and the results.
  13. Yeah - hasn't been informed. Funny how they do things. When they moved him from rookie ball to Vancouver, I heard before he did. I saw it on Twitter before he knew.
  14. Sounds like he will start the year as a starter. Does that mean more of a chance that he goes to Lansing?
  15. Hard to say on that - not sure he knows at this point. Part of me would like to see him get a opportunity to start. With the development of his change-up, and think he has three good pitches - especially with his command. However, when he went to relief (first time in his career) he was hitting 93-94 on the gun. A fastball like that with command and slider (and change-up) give him probably a better chance to move. I will ask him.
  16. King - any thoughts on where Matt Dermody will start?
  17. Thanks KingKat. I have coached myself for quite awhile, and work in a business where I am constantly a target for others' criticism. I certainly understand the nature of the beast that is the message board. Those that have chimed in so have been great. I certainly won't engage in a war of words, and understand the potential pitfalls. Again, thanks for the heads up.
  18. I haven't seen or heard anything. I'm sure he isn't even thinking about it - just keep pitching well and things will work out. He had two decent innings last night against Boise. Boise's lineup is very good.
  19. Another good outing last night 2.2 innings - 4 K, 0 BB, 0 runs. K/BB ratio since being drafted now at 35/2. His strikeout numbers have really been impressive since moving to the bullpen. I don't know how much the radio guy knows, but he said last night that Matt would be one of the first to move if they decide to make any moves.
  20. Here are the numbers for Toronto's 28th round pick: Matt Dermody - 3-1 record, 1.80 ERA in 10 appearances (1 GCL, 9 Vancouver), 30 innings, 35 K and 2 BB.
  21. I haven't followed the Toronto system long enough, so I am not sure which pitcher in Vancouver are considered better bets to advance to a high level. However, that staff is sure getting great pitching as a whole. Last night three pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts. Statistically the staff is very good. Can anyone give a quick analysis on the Vancouver pitching staff and who the guys are the many expect to advance to a high level?
  22. Vancouver pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts in this game.
