  1. Lol
  2. Powell showing good athleticism and a nice touch around the rim.
  3. Paxton is not particularly good, giving up assets for him might not be smart.
  4. This does not seem like an intelligent statement. Unless he means current banged up Ellsbury who sucks?
  5. First of all, changing the OF system into a LF, CF and RF Gold Glove is quite stupid, as we're all aware. Some egregious selections imo: -Catchers in both leagues. Framing is a thing, for one, in which Salvador Perez is quite bad at, and both catchers seemed to win out of reputation, which is annoying. -NL SS. Really? Why is Simmons of all people not being given the reputation GG? He remained as the best defender in baseball (Kevin Kiermaier not withstanding). This while Crawford just had a breakout offensive season...seems very fishy for me. Technically Lindor was the best defensive SS in the AL, but due to weird qualification methodology Escobar is a fine pick regardless. -AL 2B. Um, Altuve is decent but he's nothing special, there were better candidates for the award.
  6. Ross wasn't available apparently, but your point still stands.
  7. While the play call was predictable, it worked well. DD just happened to barely miss a shot he makes 80% of the time.
  8. What a ridiculous non-call. Awful refereeing as usual. Thanks Obama
  9. Patterson is officially useless. He can't make a 3 point shot.
  10. Um, Syndergaard???
  11. Can we just start JJ at the 4 when Carroll is back? Holy f*** Scola is awful.
  12. WAR provided by one player is more valuable than the same WAR provided by multiple players. Substantially more.
  13. Well not yet really, even if his arbitration raise is substantial, it still won't be anything near his market value.
  14. Yeah I don't think that was what NJH was alluding to when he posted that...
  15. You keep bringing this up, what exactly do you dislike about Heyward's swing?
  16. You went full retard.
  17. Salazar is not quite as good as Carrasco.
  18. This was excellent: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-dark-history-of-andrelton-simmons-and-travis-darnaud/
  19. Waste resources? Is adding a 5 WAR OF a waste of resources to you?
  20. The average wRC+ for 1B last season was 113. Signing Murphy for what he would likely cost to be a below-average first baseman would be pretty stupid.
  21. Yup, against RHP this lineup was scary. Against LHP it was murderer's row.
  22. Do we really, though? Bautista, EE, Donaldson and Tulo all hit at a significantly above-average level against both RHP and LHP (Tulo is the worst against RHP, with a career 115 wRC+ against them). Meanwhile, Heyward and Davis are both below league average in their careers against LHP, showing significant splits as most lefty hitters do (I'm assuming this out of intuition). You can put a LOOGY in an important spot against Davis and suddenly the latter is not as effective/dangerous (still has tremendous power obviously), but you put a right-handed reliever against any of JB, JD, EE or Tulo and they're all still elite hitters, as we saw many times this year. Brett Cecil against Chris Davis wasn't even fair.
  23. Um, yes? The Kansas City Royals did that and they won the World Series that way...
  24. What are you saying? People don't want Jason Heyward because omg dem fancy stats. His addition of Wins Above Replacement are just as important as whatever other starter you might sign that gives you similar value. Jason Heyward would make this team noticeably better than a lower tier starter would.
