  1. To be fair, relievers pitched an absurd amount of innings compared to today's relievers. Although lmao @ the 3rd place in MVP voting having 41 strikeouts in 129.1 IP.
  2. Ugh Dennis Eckersley is brutal. If anyone listened to a Red Sox broadcast this year when he was on, it was intolerable.
  3. Any pitcher could be destroyed by any team. That's not really what you should be basing your opinion on, because then every scenario is a negative one. Liriano has a long track record of success albeit with great volatility from start to start every season. Stroman has experimented with multiple approaches this season, one of which was more successful than the other (arguably I guess), and was one of the best pitchers in the AL this season by multiple metrics. We have to put someone out there, it won't be Happ or Sanchez, and you don't really want to mess too much with Estrada given his back issues. I think there are strong arguments for both Stroman and Liriano to be given the starting nod, and either of them could completely dominate or get shelled. I just hope the offense (and defense) is there to back them up no matter the outcome and that Gibbons is quick to pull the trigger without sacrificing too many wasted resources (i.e. bringing in any of Happ/Sanchez/Estrada unless absolutely necessary) for the potential ALDS series.
  4. He's also not particularly good at what he does. It's true that in his job those kinds of interviews never lead anywhere or offer any content of interest to the fans, but have you ever watched a Barry Davis interview? Maybe we get a wrong impression of him because the players seem to not give a s*** about him and he's a creepy tiny middle-aged man, but he's like the Pat Tabler of pre-game/post-game interviews.
  5. Smh you guys falling for the Dogg's bait.
  6. He will get robbed again, no one in the mainstream baseball media even remotely mentions his case. A lot of writers will probably vote David Ortiz and possibly even Edwin Encarnacion over him, it's ludicrous.
  7. Holy s*** how did I even miss this post? Fantastic!
  8. Matt Dermody is running around wearing just a jockstrap.
  9. Lmao "he doesn't have the caliber of fastball that Aaron has". Okay bud.
  10. Yeah I agree. Tepera can take solace in knowing he actually played a role in getting the team there, however small it was. The other guys played like a combined 10 games.
  11. I feel kind of bad for the AAA callups. They're just there among themselves having a blast, knowing that the fun ends at midnight for them. Then there's Osuna who's like 4-5 years younger than all of them.
  12. Umm Syndergaard put up a 6.5 WAR season with an ERA 0.4 runs lower but okay.
  13. If you're a Detroit fan you're f***ing pissed right now. Last series of the year against Atlanta with Verlander going on the last game of the season and they lose the series. Baseball is a rough sport.
  14. You just know that Shapiro's hairline was receding at a rate of 1cm/s during the 9th inning. The stress was real.
  15. Lol you guys are ridiculous.
  16. Thanks mom, they'll be fine. These are grown men.
  17. Yeah his 121 wRC+ really screams average hitter, as do his 133 wRC+ projections. Man I really wish our average hitters could hit for a 120 wRC+ in a down year and still project as one of the best in baseball, our offense would be astronomical!
  18. It shouldn't be very surprising that a starter whose average velo is 91 can easily sit mid-90s in a one batter relief appearance.
  19. Yeah great managers always ask their sluggers to lay down bunts in critical game situations, what the f*** was I thinking. Do you even read your own messages before you post them? Do you realize how ridiculous you sound right now?
  20. For not asking Jose f***ing Bautista to bunt? Get a f***ing hold of yourself man and stop saying reactionary ********. Jesus Christ, have a shred of common sense for once.
  21. Did you notice how long that ball stayed up in the air for? Bautista had to have stopped between first and second, there's no excuse for him not scoring easily there.
  22. Where the f*** was Bautista when the ball was in the air? Did he go halfway? Holy f***ing Christ that was terrible baserunning. Bautista should have been rounding third at the least when JBJr caught the ball off the wall.
  23. Pedroia is so damn good. Such an annoying opponent to face.
