Wat Machado hit a broken bat bloop in front of the shortstop. Morales hit a line drive to CF and Smoak went to the warning track. Literally has nothing to do with athleticism.

The fact that Machado reached on that but Morales and Smoak couldn't is pretty indicative of how this season has gone thus far.

Okay seriously, it's time for Chris Coghlan. What Travis is doing out there is unacceptable right now.

At the very least Pearce is somewhat squaring some balls. He's hit a few line drives in the last few games but most aren't falling. Travis on the other hand is struggling to hit it past the pitcher.

It's not THAT much weaker. Rotation is identical, bullpen is probably about the same when factoring in the additions and subtractions, the hitters are mostly the same except a year older (for an already old core) with Morales being a downgrade from EE, and Pearce being an upgrade over our previous LF situation with potential for Pompey to eventually be healthy for more than a month and show what he's got. It's really not a bad team at all, sure maybe it's closer to .500 than to division winner, but definitely can't be writing anyone off 7 games into the regular season. -
