  1. I'm all about these swings from Pearce and Travis.
  2. Well this is fantastic. Keep it going Steve!
  3. Didn't the Rays recently have a piggyback start? Throw something like Tepera + Barnes + Leone for 5-6 innings and hope for the best.
  4. Bautista is crushing these pitches. That ball was roped into the gap.
  5. He pitched 2 thirds of an inning on Sunday. He should be fresh, but I doubt he's more than a 2 innings tops reliever.
  6. Leone was sharp in that inning.
  7. The Yankees have been all over the high fastball in this game.
  8. It's a longshot but there's a lot of baseball to be played yet. Hold the deficit for a couple of innings and see if the offense can yet make a game out of this one.
  9. Good swings from Pillar, Bautista, Pearce and Travis in this game. Small positive to take away from this one thus far.
  10. NL first basemen are blowing AL first basemen out of the water.
  11. Yay Pearce! That's good to see.
  12. This is luck balancing itself out for the 0 ER St. Louis outing.
  13. Lol Latos dealing all of a sudden.
  14. Okay well that was a Yankee Stadium homerun.
  15. Here, check out this footage from an outing of his in 2013. Notice the velocity, the sharpness of the breaking ball. Completely different pitcher. http://m.mlb.com/video/v29292377/?query=Latos+padres
  16. And that's where the velocity difference plays a big factor. High fastball at 96-97 is unhittable but at 92-93 it's a crushable pitch.
  17. He's already been injured and lost significant velocity at the time, it's bounced back some but he hasn't been the same pitcher since. It's not uncommon for pitchers to break down after having arm trouble.
  18. It actually has though. His top end velocity used to be 96-97 which he could reach quite easily. There's a big difference between sitting 92-93 and reaching back when necessary to the current version of Latos who can't dial it up to 95. I'm sure the breaking stuff has also suffered.
  19. That was actually a terrific play by Latos, and some terrible baserunning by the Yankees.
  20. Latos is throwing serious junk.
