  1. If we're also bringing up talented teenagers Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax is already one of the best players in the league and I'm sure all the top teams are dying for a chance to buy him. Gotta be the best teenage defender in the world by far.
  2. I know you're fooling around a bit, but while he may not be 17, Vinicius Junior was born on the same year as Davies and he was a big transfer for Real Madrid in the past year.
  3. God damn it Boxy give us all of the links.
  4. Jesus Christ, Eric Gagne's 2003 season.
  5. Of course, nothing wrong with that move at all unless you were exceptionally high on Olivares who hasn't exactly broken out.
  6. Hello there Mr. Hindsight. It wasn't a signing.
  7. Boston fans are ruthless lol.
  8. Lmao Joe Kelly, all he had to do was not hit Pillar and he probably had an easy out the way he was swinging at everything.
  9. Gurriel has really easy power when he can elevate the ball. It's not too surprising given how well he usually hits the ball and he's a pretty big dude, but it always takes me a bit by surprise.
  10. Genuinely a fantastic play from Teoscar, always nice to see him at least showing some good instincts in the outfield.
  11. Like BTS pointed out, you're looking at their projections, which is what Depth Charts does by default. If you wanted to see team batting WAR, you'd go here: https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=0&type=8&season=2018&month=0&season1=2018&ind=0&team=0,ts&rost=&age=&filter=&players=0 To view a team's stats broken down by player, your best link is this: https://www.fangraphs.com/teams/astros/stats
  12. Shohei Ohtani has more WAR AS A POSITION PLAYER than Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar lol, with his pitching contributions he really should take the RoY in a landslide. Shout out to Joey Wendle who, while old to be a rookie, is putting up a very solid 3-win season.
  13. So the NL MVP has to be a starter right? None of the position players are lighting the world on fire and one of the best possible candidates in Machado will get the league-switch penalty. I can't see a reason not to award the MVP to deGrom if I had a vote. The AL on the other hand is stacked but it's become a two-way race of Trout and Betts, with Jose Ramirez going on a bad slide. I can't see the former winning again due to voter fatigue and winning team ********, but f*** if JD Martinez even gets more votes than Trout I will be pissed, he unfortunately has a good shot due to the dinosaurs.
  14. Brock "Barry Bonds against the Blue Jays" Holt does it again.
  15. Borucki was really good, he was working quickly and commanding three of his pitches well. Mark Buerhle-esque start.
  16. Lol Sandy Leon is awful. Although that was mostly a brutal throw by Kinsler.
  17. Saying that by far the best offense in the league lost a lot of games because they didn't hit enough singles and bunted over runners has got to be one of the worst narratives ever. Second in BB%, 5th lowest K% - another common argument is that the hitters were swinging to the fences all the time leading to too many strikeouts - 1st in ISO, 11th in SB which isn't even bad for a slugging team. 1st in runs scored by a landslide, but an inability to become slap hitters in the playoffs was ultimately our demise, what a moronic argument.
  18. The fact that he was an average hitter getting the most plate appearances in a stacked lineup.
  19. GOAT expanded rosters only player.
  20. The Matt Holliday adventures continue. Nope, couldn't put him at first and play Ian Desmond in the outfield (if you weren't gonna play the superior David Dahl anyway), that would make too much sense.
  21. Lmao @ Matt Holliday in the outfield.
  22. Giles' fastball appears to be trending up in his last couple of appearances, more 98s and less 96s.
  23. Paulino's changeup is pure filth.
  24. It did, in the replay you could see it clipped his fingers.
  25. Ramirez complained that the throw hit Gurriel, but given that the latter was simply sliding into the bag within the baseline and made no effort to disrupt the throw it doesn't matter if it hits him. That's on Diaz for not making a better throw/getting into better position and Ramirez for not coming up with the ball, it's not like it was some massive deflection.
