  1. I've added all of my players. I'm promoting Walker Buehler and cutting Anthony Alford from my farm which puts me at 12 prospects. MLB cuts: Frankie Montas Francis Martes Drew Steckenrider Michael Feliz Kolby Allard Jonathan Villar Nicky Delmonico Justin Williams Robert Stephenson Shane Carle Luis Ortiz Steve Pearce Yonny Chirinos Edit: I lied, I had 21 players. Add Danny Salazar to the cuts list.
  2. Well it's two things. If the team is good enough, it doesn't really matter if one of your players sits out a number of games for injury prevention, teams are already doing this to their own star players albeit to a lesser extent. But to touch on your second point, the Raptors are doing everything possible to get him to re-sign in the offseason, so if that takes a bit of ass kissing and allowing him to sit out a bunch of games so that he's content and well rested for the playoffs then so be it.
  3. Excellent news.
  4. If you expect any pitcher with average or below-average stuff to become Mark Buehrle, you're gonna have a bad time.
  5. He literally projects as a 4.5-5.0 ERA this season. I'm not sure if he has "obviously above average stuff", his swinging strike rate was a below average 7.8% with a groundball rate that was above average but not elite. His K and BB rates literally matched what he had done the rest of the year at AAA, the MLB is a different animal so expecting him to maintain his MiLB rates from the lower minors when he wasn't always young for the level is shortsighted. I like Borucki, I think he can and will be a serviceable #4/5 starter for us, but you might experience disappointment if you expect him to be consistently a sub 4 FIP pitcher.
  6. It's not that surprising. It's extremely common among scouts to classify pitching prospects who have good stuff but below average or worse command as future relievers. Multi-inning relievers are now the flavour of the month it seems so instead of just future closer we're going to see a lot more of those roles thrown out by the scouting community to guys who fit that trope and don't have durability concerns. The Jays are absolutely not giving up on SRF as a starter any time soon, barring a catastrophic season I would be quite surprised if the thought of him transitioning to the bullpen becomes a real possibility this year.
  7. Demar with the classic Demar play in crunch time LOL. He must have really been moved by the welcome reception.
  8. The Twins are having an excellent offseason IMO.
  9. Also fun fact, at this stage in his career Jason Heyward has more 3+ WAR seasons (5 to 2 - yes, TWO), 4+ WAR seasons (4 to 1), and 5+ WAR seasons (2 to 0) than Harold Baines. If we take their best seasons and order them, Heyward has 5 of the top 6. Heyward has played 9 seasons to Baines' 22. Thanks, Today’s Game Era Committee!
  10. Actually yeah. Even if the team likes LGJ a lot, we'd be adding a decent cheap player who adds vetrin presents, happens to be Cuban and an elite defender at short so in theory he could act as a mentor of sorts on the defensive end. Justifiable move from several perspectives.
  11. Teams simply don't pay for defense, Jason Heyward being the most notable exception and I imagine the Cubs had hopes that he could return to his rookie hitting form. Shocking that he can't get a guaranteed contract though, wow.

Man Colorado is really unoriginal when it comes to team names.
  13. Soto projects for a 140 wRC+ with elite OBP at 20 years old, Puig at 126, and yeah hurr durr wRC+ isn't a real fantasy stat nerd but it's definitely a valid claim.
  14. The Mariners write-up doesn't even bring up Erik Swanson lmao.
  15. Lmao @ the Rockies
  16. Lmao, three of the top teams in the world played today - and Lyon, who are a young and exciting club - and both games ended in draws. That sucks buddy, did Davies play at least?
  17. Opening Day is still huge for baseball fans and the city enjoys it, but a lot of the people that go to the stadium on Opening Day are not baseball fans; lots of casuals, bandwagonners if it applies, corporate people, and those who literally only go to get drunk and leave by the 6th inning or become a public disturbance.
  18. Welcome Ling34 to the division.
  19. Yeah as much of a douche as he is it sure will be nice to not have to face Machado in the AL East (i.e. on the Yankees) for the foreseeable future.
  20. For 10/300, he better be willing to play wherever the f*** the Padres tell him to. He clearly only cares about money.
  21. Our best player isn't Smoak. Already at the MLB level, our best players are Grichuk, Danny Jansen and Marcus Stroman. Unfortunately that's still not exactly elite talent to build around, but add Vladdy, Bo, the rest of the farm and make some FA signings and trades and you start having a semblance of a sustainable competitive core.
