    You sub either based on injury or strategy. If you're losing you're likely to put in an attacking player, if you're winning and need to hold you might sub in a defending player (e.g. sub out the striker for a defensive midfielder). If none of those are true you might still sub out one player for another with better stamina, or you have what they call a "super-sub". There's also the second keeper.

    Stroman did not have a good start. His peripherals were terrible: 5 K, 4 BB, 2 HR in 5.1 IP. Easily his worst start as a Met.

    Awful start for Stroman. 5 strikeouts, 4 walks, 2 HR given up in less than 6 innings. Luckily for him the Mets gave him a bunch of run support.

    I honestly wonder if the velocity drop is just him trying to command his pitches better. The fastball is still basically unhittable when he locates it alright, so if focuses on just increasing his arm strength and coming in firing bullets one inning at a time he could still be a viable reliever who's occasionally unplayable when the command is garbage.

    Torn ACL for DeMarcus Cousins. He might be pretty much done at this point, that's three consecutive major leg injuries for what is a very big man.

    Fun fact: Vlad Jr. is the third youngest position player to have played for the Dunedin Blue Jays this season. Technically second since we had someone called Hugo Cardona make a random one game appearance and then be sent back to rookie ball lol. Bo was the sixth youngest. Both were on rehab stints of course. Just to give some perspective on how f***ing good at baseball those two guys are, they'd be young for high-A and here they are, succeeding at the MLB level.

    What's nuts is Jorge Alfaro coming in at 59th, just below Tim Anderson and ahead of Bellinger, Michael A. Taylor and Derek Fisher.

Brito sucks but it's not like he doesn't have any tools, he's not Rowdy Tellez who has a bit of power and nothing else. Boxy isn't comparing anyone, he's using a hyperbole claim which mimics your own since you clearly don't know who you're talking about here.

    This is just straight up incorrect lol. Brito is quite fast and he's a pretty capable defender.

    Pearson and Groshans are obvious, I think he means among the "on the cusp according to industry" guys.

    His body of work is 760 innings in the outfield, plus the minor leagues where he was clearly liked enough there given that he played CF regularly, not 7 games for the Blue Jays where he looked stupid on one flyball and has been fine in his other 4 or 5 chances.

    What the f*** are you talking about? Mike Trout dropped a routine flyball last week, he must be some bum eh? Yeah the defensive metrics don't draw up a proper picture, but your week and a half of watching Derek Fisher get 5 opportunities in the outfield sure have.

    Derek Fisher, in his absurdly limited SSS at the major leagues, has played 760 innings in the outfield. He has 7 DRS and a UZR of 2.3. There is absolutely nothing f***ing wrong with Derek Fisher's defense. Maybe he got the yips because a ball hit him in the f***ing face, but just because he looks awkward catching a ball near his head doesn't mean he's doing anything wrong out there FFS. IT'S BEEN TWO WEEKS.

    That's fine, I don't anyone is expecting an ace. Mike Fiers has lived with that velocity in his career with a high spin fastball, and he's about a ~2 win/180 IP starter. I think we'd all be satisfied with that outcome out of an 8th round pick who signed for slot value. Murray's great results are also coming at an good age for prospect status, given that he's 2 years younger than the average in AA, so there's some hope that he can surpass that 2 WAR ceiling.

    It's 88-90 and tops out at 92 I'm pretty sure. Edit: you can see the velocity on the two videos above. On the first the velo reading goes from 90 to 91 and on the second it shifts from 87 to 91.

    I think there's always something to be said that the smart FOs acquired him in the first place. For instance someone like Oliver Drake was passed around the league last year, by several well run teams, and it looks like he's found a modicum of success with the Rays this season. It's very unlikely that we found "it" with Font but he's got some good stuff and is a reliever so you never know, he could have an excellent stretch for a season/season and a half and then turn back into pumpkin, which would be just peachy for us.
