  1. Oh I wasn't really arguing against that, just that it's disingenuous to remove guys who played for our team and were replaced with better players and claim that without the former we've been a bottom 4 team. I agree, the core has some players which are/will be very good but it's not totally consolidated. We need someone like Teoscar to continue playing anywhere close to his second half performance, second half Grichuk to show up for more than half the season, Gurriel to continue a level close to this season's performance, or one of Fisher/McKinney to break out (or at least be average). Then there's Vlad's defense not being a tire fire, Biggio showing some more in-game power, and acquiring a replacement for Smoak. The core has the potential to be very good but has a lot of question marks, at the very least we know that every team in baseball would kill to have Bo and Vlad, and we've got those two studs for the foreseeable future.
  2. He's a top 10 defensive catcher and projects by Steamer to be a top 10 offensive catcher from now until the end of the season, which is supported by his xWOBA which indicates he's closer to a league average hitter than what he's currently been. Danny Jansen is literally very good, right now, compared to the rest of the catchers who are the players we should be comparing him to.
  3. You can't just take away Galvis and Sogard, because they're being directly replaced by guys like Bichette and Biggio. If we're gonna do cherry picking like this then I'd point out that the Jays have the 14 highest position player WAR in August, with Bo playing full-time, ahead of the Rays, Phillies, Brewers and Cardinals.
  4. Danny Jansen is the 13th most valuable catcher in baseball despite underperforming both his projections and xWOBA significantly, he's now provided 2.3 WAR since he debuted last season in a season's worth of games (125 games). He really is quite good presently, and should only get better once his hitting regresses to the mean.
  5. I'm outing and potentially losing myself a fantasy sleeper, but this guy's K rate is nuts and too good to not bring to other people's attention. https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa915662&position=P That's right, 55 strikeouts in 23 innings. He's striking out over 50% of hitters, and even though he's also walking a batter per inning in AAA, his K-BB% is still an absurd 29%.
  6. Our fans are literally trying to turn this guy into David Wells.
  7. Hard to say with the sample size being so small, but I guess when you have someone with his body type you consider it a success is he's anywhere near below-average at worst or average in a dream scenario.
  8. The massive power is great, but it needs to come with either excellent plate discipline or consistent hard contact. Tellez has done neither of those two things right now, and as a player who provides negative value on the field and on the bases he really needs it to be a successful hitter which is his only calling card.
  9. The Bichette-Guerrero DP combination is a thing of beauty. That wouldn't have been possible without the shift being a mainstay in today's game, so we should all be grateful for the nerds that thought it up.
  10. Wow Rowdy, that's pretty awesome.
  11. That replay should not have taken half as much time as it did. It's obvious from the first two views that McGuire didn't do anything wrong, and even if you believe that he did you can make that call in 15 seconds.
  12. Miscommunication, Teoscar got a brutal read but then made up some ground and they got to a point where one of them had to dive but neither had enough time to call the play. I think Grichuk gets that if he's allowed to keep running.
  13. That was a picture perfect relay from Biggio.
  14. Drury robbed, any other part of the park and that's gone easily.
  15. I think it's Fisher too, but is one day off the end of the world to play another guy who was once also well touted?
  16. Is he now? The 24 year old with less than 100 career MLB games and has hit at every stop in the minors is a proven POS?
  17. Holy f*** you can't win with you guys. Fisher has gotten plenty of PT, let McKinney get a start in, you'll probably see the latter pinch hit later on anyway.
  18. Jesus Christ our future team is going to be so fat.
  19. Yup, looks like all muscle to me guys. This is the ideal male athlete body in its physical peak. I'm not sure Vladdy's body fat % could go any lower without posing a massive risk to his health.
  20. Kay's breaking ball(s) is(are) pretty filthy. (I can't tell if he's throwing both a curve and a slider)
  21. But the hitter swung at a ball so it doesn't count.
  22. Yeah that's the curve.
  23. I'd say it's more difficult to commit to him because he really blows.
  24. Ugh you beat me to the velocity thing.
