  1. Zach Davies and Eric Lauer flipping teams too. This is kind of a big deal.
  2. Trent Grisham traded to the Padres, return pending. Don't make costly errors in the playoffs kids.
  3. It turns out having Paul George back helps.
  4. Joel Embiid had 0 (zero) points.
  5. Um, so that was an interesting play that the Sixers drew up. Also wtf Simmons? He had 6 seconds on the clock.
  6. Here comes the three. Please rebound well just in case.
  7. Pascal Siakam is a f***ing superstar.
  8. For f***'s sake Gasol.
  9. He's still only 19. Most of his age group is in the low minors.
  10. This fourth quarter has been so frustrating. The Sixers seemingly haven't missed a three since the third quarter and we're having good looks go for terrible bricks on offense.
  11. Team is playing well overall, especially defensively. The offensive rebound was a serious problem for a while but they got a bit better around halfway in the second quarter. Hollis-Jefferson has arguably been our best player even though Pascal is carrying the offensive load. Hopefully we make a few more threes in the second half and keep up the defensive effort. Embiid looked very frustrated out there.
  12. I have a ton of extra outfielders, at least one of which is good! For anyone interested (this includes you z3r0s although I'm not entirely sure how we line up), I will be moving/looking to move at least two of Bryan Reynolds, Lourdes Gurriel, Brandon Nimmo, Nick Castellanos, Jose Martinez (and Brian Goodwin too if you actually would give anything for him). 3B is a priority, with all of 1B, 2B, SP and closers being positions that I'd like to improve on.
  13. I was with you until Pivetta+ for Giles lol. Pivetta can't have any real value at all, the Phillies basically gave up on him last year when they moved him to the bullpen and even then he was barely pitching because he wasn't any good there either. Maybe you give them an extra outfielder of ours, for instance McKinney is probably the pitcher version of Pivetta, or Fisher. Trade crap for crap and both teams will hope the guy they're getting will break out on their team.
  14. Pivetta is a really interesting case in that he has consistently drastically underperformed his peripherals. The strikeouts have been there, the walks a tad high but manageable, but he just gets f***ing shelled. It's insane that a guy with a career 3.99 xFIP and a 4.56 FIP has an ERA of 5.34, there's only so much you can blame on bad defense, as it's not like a .324 BABIP is exceptionally high. Is it sequencing, lack of a solid primary or tertiary pitch - as you mention, his changeup is terrible but his fastball has also been horrendous by pitch value so maybe he just can't locate it well at all? He would be a decent project to take on, will still only be 27 by season's start, maybe change his grip on some of his pitches, try attacking hitters differently, build him up as strictly a bullpen piece where his velocity will trend up, etc.
  15. ESPN is a joke but they're also just heavily pandering to their audience while creating contrived controversy so it leads to lots of engagement on this tweet. I don't even take them remotely seriously at this point.
  16. It's good for the sport when not just the stars are being paid so yeah this is promising. Also it's just fun to see teams not cheaping out and acquiring talent in free agency when it comes at reasonable cost at least.
  17. Also interesting to continue to see teams announcing their own signings before reporters get the scoop first.
  18. Probably more than he would have gotten in last year's free agency so good for him. D'Arnaud projects pretty well so a nice deal for the Braves here.
  19. To say that Polanco and Machado are a wash is completely idiotic. Machado has been an excellent hitter for years now with elite peaks and substantially more counting stats, and obviously is far more proven than Polanco who just had a nice breakout year. The best part is that even after that, Machado is only a year older than Polanco, so you can't even use that argument to your advantage.
  20. Well his guaranteed money only ended in 2018 but yeah you're right. I imagine with the marijuana stuff (which is stupid but it is what it is) and related attitude issues he's just seen as too much trouble for what it's worth.
  21. Well it worked out well for Jon Singleton who was younger, a better hitter and cheaper so I can see why the M's would jump at the opportunity to replicate that deal before it was too late.
  22. Typical of the Rockies to let a guy like Ramos go away for nothing while they have Daniel Murphy and his -0.2 WAR (projected 0.4 for next year) to clog up a position for them.
  23. And instead of protecting him, the Mariners decided to claim this guy https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=15605&position=P instead and keep him on the 40-man roster. What a well run organization.
  24. McGuire the last two seasons has hit as well (which is to say, not well at all) in AAA as Jansen has in the MLB, a far larger sample than his MLB showing where he's somehow put up a 130 wRC+. Both have elite defense, Jansen should be the better hitter so it should still be him at the top of the depth chart. At worst they're a catching pairing who give you ~2-3 wins despite a 75 wRC+ so it's probably fine if they both can't hit although I really would expect Danny to rebound.
