  1. At the very least he could have left them in for a few minutes and when it started getting close change up the unit; instead puts Novak in there. I've only seen stats so far until this year but actually watching it you realize how bad the turnovers Vazquez makes are.
  2. Awful, 9 straight missed, gotta take someone out, preferably John Salmons given that Lowry can't play all 48 mins.
  3. Good first quarter for the Raps, did a decent job holding the Pistons' bigs down low, let's be honest here, they are clearly stronger in that aspect so it was nice to see them forcing a lot of jumpers and the few shots in the post were a bit awkward.
  4. Took me a second to get it.
  5. Would you like extra queso with your burrito as well? Taco? Que?
  6. Pls stop referring to Cubans as Mexicans...at least go with unknow Caribbean players, they are literally nothing alike, whereas the latter are.
  7. I assume you got an autograph? I've never had the luck to see a player outside of the stadium. Edit: sorry about the double-post, internet killing me here.
  8. That's a bit different than what your post suggested. Either way, think of it this way, sure defensive plays are entertaining, but how much fun is it when a pitcher is throwing a gem, ala Brandon Morrow 17 K's dominance, when a pitcher is untouchable it makes for some great baseball. And it's not a guy whiffs 3 times in a row (JP Arencibia-like), it could be 3 nasty pitches in which the batter has no chance.
  9. A few things: 1) A pitcher should obviously always go for the K, there's way too much luck involved in pitching to contact 2) Who the hell pitches to contact anymore? 3) A pitcher can't strike out more because his agent tells him to, there's this thing called talent and tools. 4) K's are up likely because pitchers these days are better, and when I say better I mean at least have better stuff, you see many of the first round picks today throwing mid-to high 90's already, and have at least one out pitch with the really good ones developing more.
  10. So I'm reloading the boxscore constantly, and the score changes by like 2-3 points every 3 minutes. Our shooting with 3:48 to go in the quarter: (.316) 12-38 total FG (.800) 6-7 FT (.091) 1-13 from 3 (omg stop bricking) Lucky for us the Hawks ain't shooting too pretty either. Edit: updated
  11. Terrible quarter shooting-wise, close game somehow.
  12. If you think about it, Montero would be like a rich man's Arencibia, the rich obviously in the potential with the bat.
  13. Bautista, Reyes, Dickey and Buerhle (this last one was the hardest) were all traded before Opening Day, those contracts will kill you later on. I quickly swapped Bautista for Oscar Taveras (needless to say the kid then became a monster) and I think someone else. Really the only player I kept that lasted most of the season was Lawrie, but then I flipped him along with other players for Manny Machado. Am I the only one that just loves trading? I don't believe I have one player on my current 2016 team that was on the 2013 roster. And fun fact: Matt Moore won the pitching triple crown, was also the leader in BB/9, K/9 (therefore obviously K/BB ratio), WHIP, FIP and posted 10.8 WAR, we can basically assume that he won the equivalent to the Cy Young award (they call it "Pitcher of the Year"), it was a good year for my team, we won the WS and along with having Moore we had the MVP in Giancarlo Stanton.
  14. Ugh, most overrated play of all time, the fact that this is put amongst baseball's greatest plays is sickening. At least in the Oakland play where he had no business being where he was he got a lucky out out (damnit) of it.
  15. So many 1B/DH/corner OF guys!
  16. I think Horford, although injured, is probably a pipe dream. Is the bolded Pekovic you're referring to? He's got some decent post work (I haven't watched him a lot though), is a strong guy down low but I don't believe his defense is very good (I could be wrong on this, but seems a bit slow). I agree about Monroe, just the type of bigman we would need.
  17. As someone who went through a lot of trouble just to acquire 14, I'd say yes (this was also my first OOTP game); but remember the thing about sim games is that they go full depth in the systems, so some prospects whose stocks went up during the season might be a bit low, and you might not have players like Tanaka or Abreu, though I'm sure someone by now has come out with rosters to add them in.
  18. It's really fun, probably the most complete baseball sim game out there, and when trading/signing FA the AI is actually pretty smart and demands for fair deals (if not overpaying at times). I like to play the GM mode only, so at least you can focus on just one thing at a time. I used to play baseball mogul (which was still really fun) but I think this game is better, it also has cool loading time quotes and random facts which I find interesting.
  19. I might not be able to participate regularly, so my opinion shouldn't be as heavily considered, but IMO the limit should be 4 times a week. It's true that it sort of takes the fun out of it if everyday you pick one player, but when Bautista/Rasmus/EE get hot, it's hard not to pick them a few days in a row, teams usually play 6-7 times a week so I'd say 4 would be an appropriate limit, maybe 3 on weeks that have two off-days.
  20. Pulling these right out of my arse: .228/.286/.326 In the unlikely scenario that I win, please donate the money to the forum.
  21. It literally feels like Darvish all over, how people can ignore the posting fee is beyond me.
  22. Hindsight is a beautiful thing, most of us weren't even content with the idea of paying Darvish (at the time of his posting) 20 million+/per, and he at least had reportedly better stuff. Obviously looking back it's easy to say that we should have given up more, but as things stand, it's never a sure thing to give out that much money to someone MLB unproven. I hate what the Yankees are doing yet again (signing everyone available), but that's the price you pay to play in this division.
  23. Warm climate is overrated, plus, in terms of places to live(considering that you'd already be a millionaire) New York is a good option.
  24. If he truly has improved, and this is fundamentally in his most lacking areas, which were 3's and defense, then I wouldn't be opposed to keeping him. If there's one thing that I always loved about him was his finishing around the basket, left you wanting for him to drive more often but he chose to settle for out-of-place mid range jumpers instead of going inside and drawing contact.
  25. I would agree to the idea of trading DeMar for a high pick in what is being called a deep draft. However with so many teams tanking I would imagine some of them would be reluctant to trade their top pick, I'd imagine many of them would trade them as top 10 protected. Deng would be amazing in this hypothetical scenario but it also depends on whether Cleveland is stupid enough to actually wait for LeBron to go back.
