  1. Seems like Smoak's MO when he comes in to PH, even throughout the season; get into a hitter's count, then pop one up in a tight/late situation. It's like he's trying to drive the ball every time he comes into an AB like that. Just go with what the pitcher gives you. Don't try to put it in the stands. That can be said about quite a few hitters though.
  2. Earlier in the game, EE let go of the bat with his left hand on a swing, so maybe his finger is bothering him again. That's all we'd need is to lose him for the series or even a few.
  3. Hutch is also probably well aware of why the move was made, as is Loup. They have options. Depth is needed at least for the NL games, if not a little longer. The team has off days which gives 4 starters to go on normal rest making a 5th redundant in that situation so it's the best thing to do when you're trying to win games. When a 5th guy is needed Hutch will be back. Loup will probably be back as soon as his 10 days are up as well unless someone goes on the DL. I'm just not thrilled with having only one lefty out of the pen but I guess they could recall Hynes after sending someone down if they need/want another lefty.
  4. The sad thing is these guys are supposed to be professionals and they're acting like bush league babies. The umpiring was ******** this game because we know Sanchez didn't throw at the batter, not that late in the game, with only a two run lead in a pennant race. Their pitchers were buzzing the Jays all game AFTER warnings were issued and nothing was done about it to them. Then they turn to twitter in an almost teenage response and way to get even more kicks in. They all but admit we were pitching JD up and in, trying to push him off, intimidate him, hit him, then Tulo gets hit, nothing is done, but that Sanchez was clearly trying to hit our player close and late with that sinker he has with all that movement and his control issues. Our guy gets hit. Wah! Their guys get pitched tight and hit, grow up and learn the game. Oh so mature of them. It's even better when their manager got in on it. Really shows you leadership. At least with the Os Showalter just kept his mouth shut and said it was over and didn't go on and on like a child.
  5. Throwing at someone's hit and/or hitting them there intentionally should result in a harsh penalty. You could seriously injure someone (like you've shown in the images) or kill someone. Accidents will happen but to do so intentionally should result in some kind of harsh punishment.
  6. Indeed. That's basically a "Oh, it's cool when our guys are brushing them back or hitting them, but when one of our guys gets hit, accidentally, the s*** has hit the fan now! Attack mode! They're all *******s!"
  7. That's one thing I don't like about the AL. Pitchers can drill batters, or brush them back, intimidate them and it's fine because they won't have to stand in the batters box and swallow their own medicine.
  8. In my opinion, they're 6 games back with 13 head-to-head games remaining. That could make or break the chances of winning the division alone. Each team will face others of varying strengths. If the Jays continue to play hard, win most of their series, keep it close in the standings, then there is a chance they can over take the Yankees. It won't be easy, and it's probably unlikely unless the Yankees go on a losing streak while the Jays go on a winning streak at the same time, but I wouldn't rule it out entirely. This is baseball. Anything can happen. Look at how some of the teams went from worst to first, pulled off some amazing trades, were considered out of it and then somehow wound up back in a race. Two months left to play in the regular season. The Jays just have to win as many games as they can and when they face the Yankees, win the series against them.
  9. f***. Still never die attitude. Still up 2-1 on them.
  10. Come on, JD. Zone in and tie it up! Let's go!
  11. Ah f***. At least the tying run is 90 feet away but with two down.
  12. Let's go Revere! Just score the run! Base hit!
  13. Never say die! Well, now they can PH Martin to cash in the tying or winning run(s).
  14. For this team, right now, especially after all the moves, nothing short of a trip to the ALCS. I'd love to go further. I'd love a division win since the Yankees are 6 games up but we have 13 head-to-head games against them which could make things interesting. If the Jays make the WC. Win it. Head to the ALCS and at least take it to game 5 if they lose. It depends on which team they go up against. I'd prefer a trip to the WS but that's a dream of mine. ALCS at least. ALDS would be great.
  15. Pretty much. He could give you some nice offense, be the 4th OF or if all else fails you non-tender him or trade him and get back something even if it's just replacing the two minor leaguers.
  16. Could be possible. I see that more likely occurring next year unless Saunders has great numbers in rehab, they activate him, and he comes up swinging. He could be non tendered and resigned for a lower amount and brought back next year. I think it comes down to the state of his knee injury and if it's still effecting him or not. We'll see how things play out but I see them going with the hottest hands, and whomever is playing the best at the time. If it's Saunders than it's an additional bonus since it's like getting another player out of nowhere since he's been down so long.
  17. If he comes back. I have a feeling they may just non-tender him now that they have Revere, Pillar, Danny V showing he can do an OK job out there, Pompey waiting in the wings. Maybe he gets a shot in September but I'd imagine they'll go with the hot hands since they have big games in September. They could non-tender him and offer him a deal for less but he might be a dead man walking.
  18. So, with Hawkings, Lowe, Osuna, Sanchez, Cecil, Hendricks, we basically only need 5 innings from our starters and have a good chance at those guys pitching well enough to keep the game close if we have the lead. Not bad. At least now if a starter struggles early and the pen has to take over we have more of a shut down kind of staff. Just get the lead with the offense and hopefully they can help win more one run games which might be key in some games especially down the stretch.
  19. I could still see AA grabbing someone during August on waivers or a deal being announced at the last minute that they were granted extra time to finish up the details on. I might pass out if that's the case.
  20. Now that you mention it, and after reading the post someone made about Gibbons saying he'd be used more in a platoon situation, that's probably what'll happen and I'm with you in being able to live with it. Danny hasn't been horrible, but Revere is just better. Danny gets his ABs against lefties which is his thing, turn it over late in the game to Revere and he starts against righties. Not a bad thing.
  21. So, any word on if any of the new guys will be available for tonight's game?
  22. THAT alone is worth the trade. No more watching Danny V lose a ball in foul ground that almost hits him in the face leading to a run with the next pitch.
  23. Now that kind of has me a bit scared. Unless they're going into a cost cutting mode and are afraid of his arbitration numbers, I hope it's not injury risk or regression risk. But hey, we've got him and he can contribute now and in the future one way or another (even traded later on) so I'm not going to complain.
  24. At least it wasn't the Yankees getting him.
  25. Really? lol So, is it officially a hosing now?
