    Well if they didn't want filler they got the wrong package back. Lombardozzi has proven terrible. Ray is a back end guy with similar risk and upside to Nolin. Cecil is a better lefty than Krol.

    Discussing this very subject right now on XM. Said that Griffin's article wasn't credible. Also that if it was true, shame on the GM that added to this article. Said, that AA has always kept things quiet, and that it is his job to gather information. That might tick off some writers. Thinks a lot of these articles come from the winter meetings where some guy has a few drinks, and mentions some little thing, and a month later these type of articles appear. As far as the Detroit trade goes, said that it was common knowledge that the Jays don't want to trade Stroman or Sanchez, so who else were they going to use in that trade. Goins, Nolin and a reliever like Cecil would've been more than DET got in return for Foster...

    I'd be in as well. The rumored asking price for Samardzija was Stroman and Sanchez. So you'd probably have to add another arm top get the deal done.

    I said healthy season. He was hurt in '07 and put up 2.7 or something in '06. Nvm we were saying the same thing.

    He's never been healthy and not thrown +200 IP. I understand what you're saying JFaS but if Lee is healthy he'll be around 220IP again.

    That was my point. If youre projecting Lee at 4 WAR next year you should reevaluate what you're projecting.

    Going on memory, i looked when the Lee rumouts first popped up. Im on my phone at the gfs family now though. Its too difficult to change sources. Fangraphs (aka Steamer and Oliver) works well on my phone so I have the stats from th heir maon player page anything else will have to wait.

    Lee has never had a healthy 4WAR season since 2006. Sometimes you need to look at what they're projecting and think critically. Look at Lee in specific; why would his k rate drop? Why would his BB rate go up? This isn't a trend in Lee's stats but it is being projected based on age. Additionally Steamer is projecting Lee at 193 IP which is nonsensical.

    agreed on all points. I think the Mariners would rather sell high on Franklin than low on Ackley.

    They aren't interchangeable which is why you let Seattle take the one they value more since both can be replaced internally. I'm also clearly not as high on Paxton as others around here.

    No they aren't Rasmus projects around 3 WAR, Lee 5. Additionally depending on who you ask the value of the 2 projected surplus wins Lee is expected to provide is worth more than the twenty million he is owed. Meaning the elite wins Lee provides may actually provide more surplus than a 3WAR player at the end of his arb years.

    Payroll needs to be considered but Rasmus will only be cheap for one more season.

    No it's because you are valuing the 6th win a player provides equivalently to the first which is very wrong.

    That was the case last season for sure. I;ve been reading lots of rumblings that the SEA FO view him as more of a solid back-end guy now. Just IMO but the impression I have been given is that Felix, Iwakuma, Walker and Hultzen are all virtually untouchable where as the rest of the pitching depth is fair game.

    I know this has been rehashed a few times but I am expected JZ and AA to hook for a trade later this off-season. Something like Janssen + Happ/Cecil + Lind for Franklin/Ackley and Paxton just makes too much sense IMO.

    asset value doesn't equal surplus value though. Lee is the more valuable asset regardless of Colby being projected to provide more surplus value or not.

    Just my opinion but Lawrie + Rasmus + Stroman is even a little light.

    Without hesitation ten times out of ten I make that deal. No way LAA trades Trout for such a paltry return though.
