Jimenez is going to wait for Tanaka to sign. Whoever misses out on Tanaka will be in on Jimenez and there really is no incentive for him or his agent to push for a deal until Tanaka is off the market.

The biggest surprise has to go to Loup's CH, I knew it was good but I didn't expect it to lead the team in TIPS.

It's a show me fastball haha No one in the MLB is better at disrupting a hitters timing than Buehrle. Part of it is how the insanely fast pace he pitches at but, it's mostly an insanely adept baseball mind and a player who truly understands the art of pitching. It's amazing how much he accomplishes with underwhelming stuff.

If the Jays are still looking for pitching in July they should look to blow it up, not compound their failures.

He uses his FB to make the other pitches more effective. Great work by JFaS but I wouldn't bother criticizing the way Buehrle pitches, he is a master at his craft.

Do we have any accountants on here that would be able to shed some light on the taxation differences for Japanese nationals if he were to sign in Canada vs the US (preferably a low tax state like TEX).

I'm thinking he'll get around $14M AAV on a 4yr deal with some option years on the end. I could see him being enticed by a front-loaded deal as well that pays him like a star now, gets him is AAV and doesn't lock up too much payroll as he progresses further in to his declining years.

The whole FA market is unusually quiet. I've read a lot of articles stating that the entire pitching market is waiting for Tanaka to sign. You'd think there would be a few teams really pressing to get things done. I guess player agents are anticipating huge competition among whoever loses out on his services. At least some of the big name bats signed so we had something to talk about but I can't wait for AA to finally make a move.

I've been looking for an MLB-tied source to confirm but to the best of my knowledge the negotiation window started at 8am Dec 24th and is open for 30 days. The posting fee has been set at $20M and I believe if a team is negotiating with Tanaka they have accepted the posting fee.

The scouting reports bring visions of Latos to my mind. I'd gladly pay $120M for Latos if it meant that AA didn't sell the farm for another declining asset.

Then ship him out because that's a piss-poor attitude and not someone you want leading your team.

Gose would be in RF not LF and comparatively there isn't really any reason to believe he will be worth -20 runs with the bat since the other option is Melky, Pillar or Sierra.

The truth is we really don't know yet. The tools are great and you can't scout jumps/reads from your couch.

Beckham is nest used in a bench role. Viciedo can't get on base and is terrible defensively. Even with Viciedo's immense power upside he is the same type of player that the Blue Jays need to get away from. The Jays could do worse than De Aza but he isn't the type of impact player I would want back for Rasmus. In terms of prospects I'm not a fan of the CWS system at all and IMO are in no position to be moving their future. IMO if you were looking to move Rasmus to the CWS you would have to get some pitching back. I;d be curious to see if you could land a starter like Quintana in a package with one of the B guys you've listed, like Beckham, for Rasmus on his own.

Pillar and Gose would be the contingency plan, if Rajai has no luck finding a starting role he could come back as the 4th OF'er as well. Having a guy made of glass in front of him may be an appealing situation for Rajai as his eyes are clearly on playing time.

Only caveat is that defensive shifts can reduce the BABIP of LD's or any batted ball. As JFaS also said WHIP is a great stat but, there are other stats that have improved on what WHIP has to offer, so why not use them?
