  1. I don't know Synder is 6'6", he's a pretty long valuable long-term asset. FWIW your point is moot as the Dickey deal was contingent on resigning his deal -- AKA giving up long term assets for a FA contract signed by another team. The rest of your post is just rubbish so I'm not even sure where to start.
  2. AA's love for trading and his hatred for the FA market. It was obviously tongue and cheek though.
  3. Syndergaard, Hendo, d'Arnaud, Nicolino, Marisnick, and Yunel.
  4. It was definitely top dollar. I'm fully expecting AA to trade for Tanaka in two off-season when his contract fits in their 5yr limit.
  5. It's great business to give up valuable long term assets for FA market contracts, a year after they were signed to said FA contracts. Get a clue.
  6. And that would shut us up now wouldn't it? Let's not pretend there has been anything worth cheering for since the MIA deal though. Fans have a right to be angry and missing out on yet another big name FA isn't going to do anything to quell the rage.
  7. Ya, they had depth on the farm but moved it for a bunch of guys on big money FA deals but refuse to actually go out and sign a big $ FA.
  8. $25M/yr for Darvish or $16M/yr for Buehrle? Easy decision for me.
  9. Because we enjoy pretending to compete and the Jays are really just a PR front for Rogers.
  10. They could say; "we are not a big market team, we cannot afford Tanaka" because that's what obviously has happened here.
  11. Huh, it wasn't meant to be broken in to individual statements. The answer to the proposed question would be BS. I offered a hypothetical response. Furthermore, what would actually be untruthful is the "the 5yr contract limit is flexible". It clearly isn't.
  12. It's BS because it simply isn't true. No one likes being lied to and no one likes executives who can't answer questions directly. AA and Beeston are the masters of the old run around and it's exhausting -- by design.
  13. You'd get the most BS answer of all time; "The Blue Jays do not comment on other teams' players. The does have a 5yr contract limit in place but is flexible and dependant on the situation."
  14. Why even bother putting a bid in? He was obviously going to get more than 5yrs.
  15. FWIW some ass hat on Twitter is saying Tanaka will sign some time in the next 24hrs. I don't believe a word of it and it is not a credible source but, I thought you guys would like to know the rumour du jour.
  16. Either works. I'd prefer my package though!
  17. Cleveland likes big-bat up the middle talent with power.
  18. I'd be very curious to know what it would cost to land Masterson and Asdrubal. Would Stroman, Santos and Lugo be enough?

  20. Just a tidbit I came across today; The two players with the largest team-agent arb gap are both top-of-the-rotation-pitchers and prime Blue Jays' trade targets -- Bailey and Masterson.
  21. I fully expect them to go with current group + a couple minor additions. That being said is there any reason why the BJ's would have to make a bid public?
  22. Is there a reason why those who bid would have become public, or some sort of bidding deadline? Either I'm missing something or the Jays could still be interested, after all AA always says if you hear the rumours in the paper the deal is unlikely to happen.
