  1. If we have enough Int'l cap space, I'd take a shot at this guy too. With apologies to my Dominican friend, these Cubans have been money lately.
  2. Yep, one of my major issues with the whole thing. He's put everyone in the clubhouse on the spot because of that line. Other than that, I think it's pretty funny that a guy is having a terrible season (and career other than DINGERS!) is being a WATB about being called out on having a terrible season. Edit: Also, no need to apologize, ain't no thang!
  3. 5:49 mark "... I know speaking for myself and, and for the team that there's not one person in our clubhouse that has respect for those guys..."
  4. I think it's pretty ignorant to call out baseball analysts for analyzing baseball. Who the people in the clubhouse respect (for reasons that have nothing to do with their analyst abilities) is fairly irrelevant. It was pretty close to the start of the part where he talked about Zaun/Hayhurst. I'm listening live right now, but I'll listen again and get a time code later if I have time.
  5. He said "speaking for myself AND MY TEAM". Those were words out of his mouth. He said a lot of crap during his rambling interview...
  6. He can absolutely say that, he just comes off as a complete assface for doing it. His freedom of speech isn't being infringed by us using our freedom of speech to call him out on it.
  7. He should have only spoken for himself then... It's a hard game that JPA isn't very good at.
  8. Ooh... Hayhurst is on the air now... http://tnation.t-nation.com/forum_images/auto/r/350x0/a/0//a056f_ORIG-0653_homer_eating_popcorn_small_c78.jpg
  9. Shrug. If he doesn't respect Zaun, he should piss in Melky's Gatorade bottle every day. The evidence is circumstantial for Zaun (as in, it would not stand up in a court of law to convict him were that a crime) and the evidence is rock solid for Melky. I don't give a f*** who Arencibia respects (and I am no huge fan of Zaun, it's a bit of a right wing toolbag) but he's not wrong in calling out JPA for being craptacular.
  10. Okay... Personally, I feel that 90% of all players during the "Steroid era" and about 75% of players now use some form of PED. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if any member of the team (except Kawasaki) tested positive today. We have a guy who was CAUGHT doing PEDs on the team right now. Zaun's entire steroid allegations stems from a single receipt with his name on it in the Mitchell Report. That's IT. He never tested positive, there's no huge paper trail, there's no eye witness testimony for him. A single receipt with his name on it. Melky tested positive, Zaun once used a pen. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Zaun was a juicer (see my "I feel that 90% of all players..." comment above) but because he was an afterthought designed to pad the numbers of a congressional witch hunt doesn't make him automatically unqualified to complain about JPA being terrible at baseball.
  11. I don't care how much juice you do, if you can't stop swinging at absolutely everything it ain't helping.
  12. What have Zaun and Hayhurst done wrong in this situation?
  13. Heh... "JP Arencibia on the 590 this morning struck out at Gregg Zaun and Dirk Hayhurst" That's our JPA, always striking out!
  14. Stupid 590 callers: "Gotta be able to get on base above .250..." cites Rasmus and his .321 OBP as an example.
  15. Combative situations are now Jerry's pervue
  16. I chose career numbers, but Zaun's numbers w/ the Jays were better than his career numbers, so that's even more valid...
  17. Oh come on... Jerry Howarth for an hour right now? I feel bad for him, this is going to SUCK.
  18. Pretty much have to get this guy at this point... Also, Puig and Cespedes can be added to that list...
  19. If Jayson Nix had done that in NY, he'd have been DFA'd before the interview was finished.
  20. There isn't one... Blair was just talking about how NESN and YES aren't as harsh on their players... There's no way the Yankees or the BoSox would run a guy like JPA out 4/5 games behind the plate.
  21. "Speaking for myself AND FOR THE TEAM..." He literally said he was speaking for the whole team... I wonder how his team feels having a guy with an IQ of a warm bagel as their spokesman...
  22. Now, basically everyone from Joey Bats to the guy who does the laundry ("Nobody in the clubhouse respects these guys") has to come out and take JP's foot out of their mouth... There's going to be a lot of line walking between trying to support JPA, but disagreeing with the lack of respect for Zaun and Hayhurst. Also, "Nobody respects steroid users in the clubhouse...." Camera pans slowly to Melky...
  23. JPA has really, really shot himself in the foot here. He's got SO little goodwill already, and he just shovelled a LOT of it out the window.
  24. Ha, he's rambling on about how people who have played the game understand what's important... Like, y'know, Zaun and Hayhurst...
  25. Heh at JPA calling Zaun a "below average player in the major leagues". That's brilliant! Edit: JPA is high concept performance art, discuss.
