    Frankly, I think the fact that he's being coy about it is better... Other GMs don't need to know that he's got a blank cheque... Being unclear about this will definitely not hurt his bargaining position.

    Yeah... but given the situation, the Jays could likely spend over $300M and still be profitable for Rogers... Giant billboard downtown, content for, what, 6 different cable channels? Whatever walks through the door 81 times a year... Merchandising, word of mouth etc, etc, etc.... The Jays are a HUUUUUUUGE cash cow for Rogers almost regardless of payroll... Make the Jays a winner and that cash cow gets SO FAT... I'm not saying they're going to throw whatever money at it, but they definitely could and still turn a substantial profit.

    Whatever, he's a guy who closes his eyes and hopes for the best and he closed his eyes and swung off a mediocre pitcher... Sucks that it was against us, but over a full season, he's going to get 20 homers based on that... He's still terrible at baseball, and nobody should read anything into this.

    If he showed up full time next season, it would be like getting a high upside college guy... He's got very little chance at being a pro with Football, but could have a career in baseball (even if he never cracks the majors, he could easily be the sort of dude who hangs around the minors a long time.)
