    I wore my Vladdy jersey to the bar tonight, loooooooots of people who know f***ing nothing about baseball. They were excited that we got "three players" for Pillar, so... the quality of the players didn't seem to matter.

    Smoak very well might get moved, but we don't really have a 1B other than him. I'd be okay with re-signing him, depending on the terms, unless we get a 1B (Rowdy might work out with the bat, but I have little faith in him becoming decent defensively...)

    If you are looking at HRs and RsBI, you are looking at exactly the wrong numbers to find his value.

    As would I. I'm high on Alford, and I think he's going to do really well.

    I say he puts up within .5 WAR of Pillar this year (yes, I realize that's a wide range when you're talking ~2 WAR.)

    I haven't honestly looked at the numbers, but the eye test tells me that Smith Jr. would be a shite 4th OF. I didn't think he was good in LF, and ideally you want a 4th OF that can handle all 3 positions. Quickly looking at FG, his fielding numbers are pretty gross.

    Okay, that's... unexpected.

    I'm okay with this move, we're worse today than we were yesterday, but I think this move, long term, makes us better. He wasn't going to be here forever, and this year is pretty much a write off (and, personally, I think Alford puts up comparable numbers to Pillar in 2019 already.)

    Assuming we're basing this on batting, which is where the justified Pillar hate comes from, I can't believe nobody mentioned Rajai "throw me a breaking ball with two strikes and I will swing even if it bounces 25' from home plate" Davis.
