  1. I was thinking the same thing. It was almost a brushback fastball.
  2. So do we applaud Gibbons now? Seemed like Happ did his job.
  3. I agree. And nothing proved it more than them backtracking on that damp mist keeping the ball in the park.
  4. It's funny because Rangers fans on reddit think they're bias towards us.
  5. I agree with this, and not pointing out anyone in particular. But it gets exhausting when every post is just complaining, not really analyzing. It's almost like nobody can enjoy a game without being extremely negative. Whatever... how about that inning! Damp air huh...
  6. Jeez this place is such a cess pool of negativity sometimes. Everything is Gibby's fault. Pillar sucks and then he hits a homer to shut everyone up. Does anyone enjoy watching baseball or is it much more satisfying complaining?
  7. I'm a lurker who posts every once in a while. That certainly seemed very Dogg-y. It wasn't a "person with a mind of their own". It was a weird non sequitur emotional tire fire. Glad he was banned.
  8. I for one am glad this got its own thread: the around baseball one is so large I sometimes miss things. Nice trade, wonder if Cubs will part with Schwarber for Miller now. Miller in their pen is an all-in move.
  9. The Bay Area is cold but at least there's no snow. And you're right by the ocean. Completely valid argument against Toronto winters because it effects their wife and kids too.
  10. I'm a little worried we're automatically making Osuna the closer again. He has the stuff to be a starter and is much more valuable in that position. Shouldn't he be getting every look to be in the rotation?
  11. I came here looking for Arrieta winning the Cy thoughts.
  12. Smoak can't hit a breaking ball. He's Juan Francisco.
  13. Longhorn here. This is absolutely correct. Although I would still suggest going for the Fair.
  14. My lawyer pronounces it Sha pee row.
  15. I went to every game of the Anaheim series in LA. I'm 3-0 with 1 record-breaking series. I just have to figure out a way for the Jays to pay me to attend games and they'll go undefeated.
  16. His WAR quote is fantastic. I like that kind of talk from a president.
  17. I actually like AA. I just think preventing the Jays from hiring Shapiro because we have AA is silly. Shapiro is a good baseball mind and would be a good president. My point is AA hasn't done anything yet. 2013 we were considered "contenders" at the beginning of the season and by some, during that win streak. Fizzled. Last year? No additions at the deadline, and we dropped out. This year we're having a great season but again, it's results-based. IF AA misses, that's on him. And by the way, does anyone watch other teams? The fact that AA is so overhyped here makes me think you don't watch the Cardinals. Somehow they've managed to re-tool while still competing for the playoffs. So have the Giants. This is what I mean when I say AA is not the king of GMs like some here believe.
  18. He's had five years to make the playoffs. We don't live in a vacuum of one year. GM is a results-based job, if he can't make the playoffs in five years, that's on him. He's had his shot, he's been given massive payroll spending compared to his predecessors. You can blame it on the players if we miss, but you can't blame five years of no-playoffs on a GM getting bad luck.
  19. Not adding Shapiro because: a) the players supposedly would be upset because AA has built supposedly the best team in baseball is crazy. You add guys like Shapiro when you get a chance. He would be a good president. Most likely would retain AA if we make the playoffs.
  20. He built it by almost completely gutting his farm system, adding lots of money and a longterm commitment with Tulowitzki. And the best team in baseball will be the one that wins the world series. AA needs to have this team not only make the playoffs but make some noise for those moves to have had paid off.
  21. The players won't care. AA isn't the apex of general managing. IF we miss the playoffs, he should be fired.
  22. Arencibia is Kenny Powers minus the charm, likability, humor, and likability. Likability mentioned twice on purpose.
