  1. Stroman is immature and has a terrible attitude. Just the fact he called himself the glue that held things together is laughable. He couldn't even hold his friendship together with his best friend on the team. Hopefully the Mets keep him, or ship him off somewhere even worse.
  2. Good guess. Makes sense. That would be Tuesday then eh?
  3. I think after the initial shock people calmed down a bit. The reaction right off the bat was pretty fair. Fans here are probably more informed than most, but we aren't scouts. Expecting at least one high end prospect and then getting two pitching prospects who weren't even ranked that high in a pedestrian farm system like the Mets' is obviously going to put a sour taste in most fans' mouths. People understand Sim could be great, but just because he has the same upside as other top prospects doesn't mean everyone should be happy. There are probably pitchers in every farm system we could talk ourselves into getting excited about, but it doesn't make them outstanding trade targets for Stroman. Sim may look comparable to past Garcia, and might have the same upside, but he hasn't cleared as many hurdles yet and that counts for a lot as far as value is concerned. I've already convinced myself everything could work out great. Kay has some nasty pitches and I'm intrigued at what he might be able to do. I'd still give the trade less than a B- though for sure and don't blame people for their knee jerk reactions.
  4. Does anyone know why SRF came out after 1 inning yesterday?
  5. Yeah. They both give up a lot of hits for the stuff they have though. Hopefully they can take steps forward in our system.
  6. Teams are supposed to underplay the value of the asset they are trading for, so maybe they were all giving the Jays this impression. It is up to the GM not to cave, especially well before the deadline. We know how many teams use advanced stats now. It is impossible that many of these teams dont know how good Stroman is. I think Ill go into a more positive frame of mind now though. This is not healthy. I just really expected the splash that so many other franchises have got to have. We so rarely get to trade for top prospects, I thought this was going to be it.
  7. Wouldnt call it brilliant. There are lots of younger power arms in the minors. Nobody knows for sure how any of them will turn out. If they hit on this then that's awesome but they still should have got someone with the same power arm who is a bit closer and less of a risk. Or if not then at least one more player thrown in.
  8. Thanks for these. I always give them a listen.
  9. Yeah you are not wrong. Remember watching an interview with AA on the Acuna extension. Very personable guy and I remember he was almost surely the hardest working GM in the league. Other GMs would tell stories about it. Glad to see it looks like he is looking after his health more lately.
  10. Would be hard to believe someone would offer up anything too good for Giles at this point.
  11. This is the silver lining I guess. He could end up a stud and hopefully they got it right.
  12. Other teams who were going after Stroman must be wondering what happened. Lots of time left until the deadline and an underwhelming trade. I agree with many of you, Mets could probably flip Stroman right now and make the Jays look really bad.
  13. It is not possible that this was, or would've have been by the deadline, the best deal available. Other teams must have gotten the sense that the Jays did not realize all the numbers on how good Stroman is and where his numbers stand league-wide.
  14. Unfortunately kind of what I'd expect from this administration. At least the previous administration would swing for the fences in the trade market. Two players traded. One we don't seem to get to find out who he was traded for, and the other a dull trade. All Stroman's numbers show that he is a legitimately good pitcher in this league. With a year of control there should be at least one VERY good prospect involved.
  15. Funny. Also a good way to blow out your arm.
  16. Too exciting of a trade deadline this year to miss!
  17. 1 walk to 20 strikeouts in his last 3 appearances. A corner might have been turned.
  18. Sanchez getting ahead of hitters all day.
  19. We traded high in someone! Like Sogard, hopefully there is an intriguing piece coming back.
  20. Sanchez picking it up lately. Maybe he is excited the Jays are showing Stroman the door. We ever find out what ruined that relationship?
  21. The wait is getting painful. Wish they'd ay least get a little deal done (Sogard, Hudson, Galvis).
  22. People forget AA rebuilt the farm system very quickly twice. One of those times he had Halladay to trade, but it was still impressive. He did a great job of hyping prospects as well. He'd always mention players by name in interviews and how they are taking off. I liked AA a lot and his passion really came through. He is gone though so always talking about him is kind of pointless. I'm cheering for this crew to finally show some guts. So far it is like the Ricciardi era. Some solid move but never pulling the trigger on moves when they are needed. Even when Ricciardi finally signed all those players he still didnt pull of what I would call any blockbuster trades.
  23. It makes more sense than caring about what the Jays get. Of all the teams in the MLB, he certainly won't be playing for the Jays after next year. If he goes to the Yankees or a similar team there would be a good chance of signing with them. I don't actually think he cares about that though. I just find it a bit funny people think he should care what the Jays get in return for him.
  24. Maybe he is thinking about his next team? If he is going to be traded, wouldn't he want his new team to still have their top prospects?
  25. Can take over Greenwood's team if you would like. Not the best for setting lineups but could keep it afloat. I think there is something to be said for not having all the same people in two different leagues, so you could give me to boot if you find someone better later on.
